Are there any cities in the U S that are solely democrat (Original Post) Beachnutt Mar 2021 OP

The correct term is Democratic cities, not "Democrat cities." SunSeeker Mar 2021 #3
'Solely Democrats' would also be correct ;) nt Hugh_Lebowski Mar 2021 #4
Sure. Just don't use Democrat as an adjective or as the name of our party. nt SunSeeker Mar 2021 #7

We've had that many times, and wonderful synergies leading to important advances are the usual result.

And no, there are no solely Democratic cities. Invariably, at least 30% of the population is Republican or conservative-leaning independents. That's why we can't have nice things. Some of us even let the GOP bastardize the English language, using Democrat as an adjective, and the name of the Democratic Party as the "Democrat Party."

The New Democrat Coalition

Was the old 3rd way DLC's Congressional arm originally.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Democrat_Coalition

The New Democrat Coalition is a caucus in the House of Representatives of the United States Congress made up of centrist Democrats who support policies that it describes as "pro-economic growth," "pro-innovation," and "fiscally responsible." The caucus has sometimes been considered socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

As if there was some group within the party championing themselves as "anti-economic growth, anti-innovation, and fiscally irresponsible."

Their specific proposals and their votes count, not what's on their T-shirts in the summer.

only 5% of the public voted Trump. In Manhattan only 12%. San Francisco, Seattle, and Portland also have less than 30% Repubs, I believe.

Republicans now, it's not about disagreeing. Anyone still identifying as Repub is a bigoted, moral coward who I don't need to be around. They add nothing to society.

so I have no way of knowing why they vote for local Republicans. Perhaps the Republicans in that state is closer to the pre-Reagan GOP, I don't know.

Doesn't leave a lot of room for exceptions.

I'll also point out the people who voted for Elizabeth Warren and Republican Governor Baker in Massachusetts, or the people who voted for Chris Van Hollen and Republican Governor Hogan in Maryland.

In the presidential election that year, out of over 400 votes cast Bill Clinton got all but two of them. The two votes he lost went to Ross Perot instead. A very unusual town to be sure, overall hyper liberal, plenty of alternative culture and a belief in alternative energy etc. Nonetheless it was rural and I have no doubt that some people there had guns. I also have no doubt that there is some hate everywhere, even in a place like Bolinas California, although in a place like that it is less likely to proudly be on display. I had some lesbian friends who lived there who never felt totally at home there, though they weren't subject to harassment. The village just had an implicit heterosexual cast to it.

Eureka, Oregon, or some such? There are reruns dubbed into German on TV here late at night, but I usually fall asleep before they come on.

It was called Eureka, and had similar vegetation to northern California, but it definitely was not set in California. I thought it was Oregon, but maybe it was Washington State?
