The kind of meetings you're trying to get with the "inner cronies" usually occurs as breakfast meetings and only by invitation. You can try tapping into any of the number of innocuous sounding organizations for someone who will put in a good word for you. I suggest the Rotary Club. Or, perhaps, the Chamber of Commerce. It's not so hard. I hear that our government City attorneys have been known to serve on their boards. Shouldn't be too hard to find an attorney in Florida that plays both sides.
