From linked Chicago Sun Times article in tweet:
Kinzinger is one of 10 Republicans to vote with House Democrats to impeach Trump for incitement of insurrection for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol as Congress was taking the final steps to validate Joe Bidens presidential election.
Kinzinger has emerged as a national leader of the non-Trump wing of the Republican Party because of his willingness to denounce conspiracy theories and Trumps embrace of the lie that he won the election. He was also one of 11 Republicans to vote with Democrats to strip freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., from committees for her embrace of QAnon conspiracy theories and threats to harm Democrats.
Kinzinger is using another political war chest, his Future First Leadership PAC, to bolster his Country First drive to build a movement to diminish Trumps grip on the Republican Party.
Trump launched an attack on Rove this month, after Rove, in his Wall Street Journal column, criticized Trumps speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference. Trump, in a statement from his Save America PAC, called Rove a pompous fool.

(65,085 posts)...takes one to know one.
But, I can't prove it, but I just know it's true that this is the second time ever where T#&@p was correct at something.
The other time was after a bad shot on the golf course when he said "I suck!"

(65,085 posts)He was critical of T&@#p nearly the full 4 years.
He also told the Freedumb Caucus to get lost, which is why they primaries him in 2014 & 2020.
He won both primaries in a romp. In both cases, his primary win was substantially larger than his win in the GE.
I live in his district. In fact, I've substitute taught at the school about a mile from his house.
Here's what I think he's up to:
He believes T&@$p's influence will wane quickly. A Rs need to undergo a restructuring, he becomes big heat & maybe the face of the party.
I'm not sure he's wrong.

(15,238 posts)Although I suspect your response might have been similar, apart from the fact Rove doesn't hold an elective office.
