(18,666 posts)Hypocritical idiot. How did Sue Ann The Happy Homemaker get elected?
I read her Wiki 2x and cannot see that she ever had a job outside of government.

(430 posts)do not see God as being the omnipotent Prime Mover; but a servant for their desires--a magician in their hire, or a trained beast.

(90,788 posts)But some Christians just can't help themselves. Always behaving as if Christianity is IT. The end all and be all. The ONLY religion that counts, that matters. In fact, a sabbath day is meaningless to a whole lot of us. Myself included.
All that said.
Religious reasons for interfering with the rights of the people should be held up to scorn and ridicule.
People like her shouldn't be allowed to hold public office.
Keep your knee-jerk to yourself. I didn't say people who practice a religion shouldn't be allowed to hold office.
Only those who would impose their religion on others. Those who would use it as an excuse to attack the rights and liberties of others.
Yes, I am an atheist.

(16,094 posts)She isn't exactly a follower of Christ as much as she appears to be a follower religious system...I would say that the vast majority of believers like her are exactly the same...they believe in the religious system more then they believe in the teachings of Christ!!!
Churchianity: focuses on religiosity and external practices such as regular church going, attending masses and religiously adhering to various customs & traditions of the church. Churchianity is often characterized by Self righteousness, Sectarianism, Dogmatism and legalism.

(54,445 posts)And the "In God We Trust" bit wasn't put on our money until 1864 (the 2 cent piece) and not on the rest until starting with 1866 (coins smaller than the quarter, not until the 20th century). None of the Founding Fathers lived to see it happen, and probably never wold have approved.
It wasn't used to replace "E Pluribus Unum" as the national motto until 1954, when McCarthyism was all the rage. If her god really wanted to forbid voting on Sunday, he would come into the hearing room at the Senate and say so. Just in case anyone is holding their breath in anticipation of that happening, you can stop. He won't do it.
Senator Snide-Quip can take her phony piety and stick it wherever she likes, but Jefferson and Madison would have had her expelled from the drafting of the Constitution in 1787 for that kind of nonsense.

Are all businesses closed on Sundays ???
I will make a guess and say no.
What a bullshit argument.

(7,671 posts)no matter the topic it will always come back to religion. They have been crying religious persecution for as long as I can remember. All the while displaying without apology blatant racism, covert racism, bible justified racism, and KKK style racism.
As a child I saw several KKK cross burnings (later 60's) and as soon as I graduated HS ('68) I left. And now as 70 yo I find myself in Texas which I see turning into the "new Mississippi" and I'm too damn old to run away from it this time - also not sure where I could go these days. After seeing what has happened these last few years I think the same attitudes permeate most of the entire US.
So damn sad.

Do these people not understand that our Constitution is what allows their open worship of deities?

(33,406 posts)She is filling the available space with bullshit, seeking to muddy debate, and exhaust the patience of Dems. She's one of several wastes of oxygen in the GOP Senate, along with Tuberville.
She might as well be reading Ipsum Lorem.
