A word of thanks to the men and women of the Federal Civil Service,

including (but in no way limited to) the Senior Executive Service, who hung on, enduring all but intolerable working conditions, in the name of serving the Republic.

How many of them had their letters of resignations at the ready, and how many of those would have been handed in if the general election had gone 'the other way'?
