Douglas Jensen, the Iowa man charged with leading the mob that chased Officer Eugene Goodman in the Capitol on Jan. 6, is in talks with the govt about a potential plea deal, per a status hearing this morning. Next court date set for May 6.

Jensen's lawyer and the prosecutor both sounded optimistic about reaching an agreement (lots of talk of "resolution" and "disposition&quot , but the govt is still turning over evidence, so they jointly asked the judge to continue to suspend deadlines

In this toxic political environment, tribalism is likely to infect juries, making unanimous verdicts VERY difficult.

Prosecutors will likely make deals in order to not risk a parade of hung juries contaminated by biased MAGATS.
