He asks if he's going on too long. I hope he goes on all afternoon. It's wonderful.
Meanwhile, the RWNJs on social media are doing all they can to deflect attention with pearl clutching false narratives. Don't feed them. This is OUR president's moment, and ours.

This makes me cry.
How does a person of his age stay so sharp, on top of ALL the complex facts. Stay gracious. Oh, and he and his 1st lady (and the 2nd couple) always look great - just present so well as Americans. Just like the one before the one before - the one he served so loyally as VP.

(6,687 posts)OK ... he is ... but ....
The amazing part is Joe the man. Willing to come out of retirement for the good of America. Fit as a fiddle, sharp as a tack. I'm about his age and while I'm not exactly ready for the glue factory, that man can run circles around me mentally and physically. He's a testament to too old is never too old.
Add in his willingness to be told about himself so he grows daily into a better person. His open heart and belief that everyone has something to contribute. His value of diversity. All of it ...
But standing up there putting words together with decorum and respect ... that's the least of what we should be shooting for Presidential wise ... Stark contrast to the last one ...

(82,849 posts)Joe Biden has now held as many press conferences during his first year in office as the former guy held during his first year in office. You may be surprised to learn that the former guy didn't actually hold very many press conferences until he was actively running for re-election in 2020 and he needed the free publicity (for all the good it did him).
But for all the agitation on the popular media for President Biden to hold a press conference, the dearth of press conferences hosted by the former guy never quite made it into the narrative. For some reason.

(41,986 posts)There's a risk in not talking in vague talking points like the other guy did. You become a target. And I'm so happy he's not dodging that.

(24,736 posts)when that reporter asked him if it is acceptable to him that there are so many youngsters at one detention center packed in like - terribly! - who reportedly haven't seen the sun in days!
He replied: "that is a serious question, right? Is this acceptable to me." A little bit of an awkward moment, but I think called for and I will be REALLY PISSED if he gets crap for it!

(41,986 posts)But it might be an indicator of how the press has become informational ambulance chasers these last years. Actual reporting is sooooo boring. How can you create clickbait out of that?

(11,564 posts)ESPECIALLY in comparison with the dumpster fire that last occupied the office.
The President has the heart and grace of Jimmy Carter (no small thing!), the apparent ability of Barack Obama or Bill Clinton (both even smarter than they were give credit for) and a somehow quiet and dignified charisma that I just can't categorize or compare.
I can't think of anyone with that attribute, let alone be dripping with it.
His amazing wife and excellent VP don't hurt him at all, either.

(5,420 posts)Incredible. This man is speaking to his country out of honesty and hope. Listening to his words I am encouraged deeply with his leadership. He speaks Truth! No Lies! Treats reporters with respect talks plainly to the people. As if the modern buck stops with him.
