I think Trump and the GOP are planning to peel off conservative latinos and some african american men with anti-feminism dog whistles. They've already harnessed the anti-feminist white men vote.

(1,896 posts)For far too long groups of hateful people had tacit approval to express their hatred through violence. It's about time they grew up and learned that there are things in everyone's life that are disliked. Do something with all that energy, go outside and play, clean your room, do something.

(2,697 posts)Just ask Charlotte Fedders*. Conservative men been beating the snot out of their spouses for decades but only recently have they begun to get called out for it.
*She went public with the horrible beatings and death threats she received from husband John, Reagans first SEC Chief. She wrote a book about it, a TV movie was made about. Fedders was fired and, though a competent financial mind, couldnt find work and, in the best and most gratifying example of Karma, had to sue his ex-wife for alimony! Charlotte won but only after suffering this sadists criminal treatment for 15 years.
And, yes, John Fedders was a wife beating coward and a psychopath. See also Rob Porter.

(70,213 posts)fundies and cops are the worst, imho.
i would be curious what the REAL percentages are.
i think most of those who wouldnt cross that line have a similar opinion of those that do.

(2,697 posts)I doubt that a great percentage of these conservative men actual are women beaters -- but I believe that most can pal around with, and share beers with, those who are. Its not a line they cross themselves, but neither is it one they get particularly upset about others crossing.
Maybe Im over-reacting to the subject which, frankly, disgusts me.

You're right of course about the GOP harnessing the anxiety of those men who're threatened and angered by women's growing equality. It's a big motivator. These days everything and anything arising from the worst of human nature is put to use in the Republicans' populist subversions.

(14,047 posts)went up for Trump in Texas and Florida but stayed the same in New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Illinois. So most Latinos still aren't switching to the Repubs. We do need to stop the Repub Latino gains in the two southern states though.
