I'm 74 with diabetes and heart issues (Atrial Fibrillation).
Had a sore arm for a day after the first shot but this second one worries me a lot,
about those possible side effects.
How was your second Moderna shot experience?
Thanks

(5,234 posts)Left me with a minor soreness in my arm. Felt kind of fluy and tired about 24 hours later. Took Tylenol and went to bed. Woke up feeling great. Well worth any discomfort.

(3,058 posts)The second one was rough. I began throwing up on during the two hour I was driven home. Nausea, chills, fever for two days. However, I completely avoided the arm soreness that plagued me with the first Modena by not babying my arm. I used a heating pad, ice packs, foam roller against the wall, and lifted a small dumbbell while recovering in my chair and bed. Complete recovery by third day with only one swollen lymph node on left side base of skull. Its completely gone now one month later.

(31,528 posts)but that only lasted a few hours. I felt really tired and a little feverish for a couple of days. I drank plenty of fluids, rested and took some aspirin. My sister had pretty much the same reaction, but with some mild achy muscles. FWIW, we're both in our early 70's.
I never felt terrible. It was well worth the minor discomfort for the peace of mind it gave me.

(114 posts)Age 63. I got the 2nd shot Thursday night. Side effects: a very sore arm and I got mild aches in all the joints that ache when I have a Lupus flare up--knees, hands, wrists and elbows. Yesterday afternoon and last night I had a fever. This morning the fever is gone, my arm is only mildly sore and there is just slight ache remaining in my joints. Worth it all and not nearly as bad as I expected.
I also have afib--the shot didn't affect it at all.

(31,402 posts)Sore arm--like the first one--mild chills. Spent the afternoon wrapped in layers with a blanket watching TV movies I'd recorded. Napped. My knee replacement knee had stiffened during the night before the shot, and I waited to take Tylenol arthritis until just before bedtime. No trouble sleeping. Some other joint pain in other joints.
Second day, still sore arm, but ok overall. Knee loosening up and mild joint pain didn't require Tylenol.
Third day--extreme fatigue. Canceled the plan for someone to be in my house that day and crawled back into bed.
Some other mild effects since then. My joints continue to bother me--especially when rain is coming--but more so than normally. I have had some days where I feel not quite dizzy, but light headed and a bit brain fogged.
I'm 70.
Be sure to hydrate.

(4,673 posts)had soreness at injection site but that didnt last more than a half day or so.
Fever the first night of close to 102, next morning it was 101.5 and kept gradually going down over the next 2 days. Had string fatigue and slept a lot for a few days.
My cousin said he slept for 48 hours that it knocked him out.
I chose not to take anything to bring my fever down and just let my body do its thing. Wasnt a big deal and I was happy to be making antibodies!

Mr Peacetrain was super sleepy the next day.. mine.. I could not sleep.. just the opposite.. but we both have had no issues with a sore arm this time
