Biden's Infrastructure Plan To Be The Biggest Since The New Deal

Biden’s Infrastructure Plan To Be The Biggest Since The New Deal

President Biden is expected to propose a $2 trillion infrastructure plan that would be the biggest since The New Deal

The Washington Post reported:

Biden is expected on Wednesday to unveil a more than $2 trillion package focused primarily on physical infrastructure such as roads and bridges; major investments in housing, clean energy, and manufacturing; and a major investment in home-based care for the disabled and elderly, among other measures, according to two people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal details of the internal discussions.

Then, the White House will unveil a second plan, in several weeks, that includes an expansion in health care insurance coverage; an extension of the expanded child tax benefit; and paid family and medical leave, among other efforts aimed at families, the officials said. White House officials have not explained whether they will seek to have both efforts pass at the same time, or try to get Congress to approve one first. The combined price-tag of the plans could top $4 trillion.

A Brookings Institute analysis found that it would take $4 trillion in spending to hit New Deal levels of federal outlays on infrastructure.

On the rare occasions in previous decades when Congress could agree on an infrastructure bill, the pricetag has usually been in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Biden and the Democrats are proposing the sort of spending on the nation’s critical infrastructure that the United States hasn’t witnessed in decades.

President Biden and Democrats in the House and Senate are putting together a transformative government that is dealing with big problems, and this sort of spending will improve the lives and communities of people for decades to come.

Look at all the GQP governors turning down Medicaid expansion, to give just one of hundreds of examples.

Now they are trying to find a way to keep the stimulus money out of their states.

It could be that she is just representing the progressive caucus' position on a bill. She's likely on board with Pelosi's and Schumer's legislative approach.

She could also be setting up some Republican votes for it by loudly being against it, to ensure their reflexive rejection of all things AOC, imo.

By attacking Biden's "New Deal" as "not nearly enough" sends the message that this legislation is pointless and not worth fighting for. So if progressives don't fight for it then it probably wont get passed. Is that progressive??

It's not fair to interpret her so negatively just because you object to her opinion.

I don't agree on what, in your opinion, are her messages. I don't agree that you can therefore run your hypothetical ("so if&quot that she won't fight for it. The bill isn't even up for a vote in the House until July.

AOC is on Rachel in a minute. Listen to what she says.

Probably related to funding it. I suspect things could be sped up if funding becomes more available.

If the only complaint is speed of implementation then I think we have a winner!

Jobs that can help a family get ahead, buy a decent home, put their kids in school, put money aside for retirement. It also brings in revenue to the government to offset the cost of the programs by the taxes they pay. Plus taxing the corporations and businesses, that will get the contracts and make millions.

Love love Joe.

"Joe, that's a big f**king deal!"

If anything could help make America great again, this is it....along with several other key measures like taxing the ultra-wealthy, ending the aftermath of Citizens United and reining in military and police power and spending.

Kudos to Joe, Kamala and all the new administration for a start on righting the ship after four years of sabotage.
