Why some people still refuse to get a COVID shot

https://www.localmemphis.com/mobile/article/news/health/coronavirus/many-are-experiencing-vaccine-hesitancy-but-there-are-ways-you-can-persuade-them/289-7d9c5b54-69f3-4254-a8d6-67b60772ad69

The survey finds the largest groups who don't want a vaccine are Evangelical Christians, people in rural areas and a little more than a quarter of Republicans.

NEW ORLEANS — As we see vaccine appointment times opening up and shorter lines at mass vaccine sites, we wanted to look into who is having concerns about getting a COVID shot and why.

The non-profit Kaiser Family Foundation, which focuses on national health issues and policy, has a brand new survey on vaccine hesitancy.

Was the first I knew to be vaccinated - as a front line worker. And she was very grateful to get it, drove an hour downstate to a major hospital to get the Pfizer vaccine. She may not work directly with covid patients, but at the hospital she could be exposed despite all her required PPE. I couldn't imagine anyone working at a hospital with patients wouldn't be mandated. They wouldn't just be in danger of getting the virus, but also of transmitting it to other patients and family members.

If you expect to go anywhere, groceries, pharmacies, gas stations, banks, you must be wearing a mask to be allowed inside. And there are lines on floors indicating proper distancing and many stores and pharmacies have one way aisles.

And the situation is impossible to ignore even if you go nowhere, with Governor Cuomo's informational updates and there are now numerous vaccine sites right in this area - not only pharmacies, but a town site just opened at the local mall (former Sears store) and a county site is also available at a large health center.

And I just heard a promo on TV from a nurse's association on how they're advocating for better staffing. They're required to wear PPE and certainly should be required to be vaccinated! They're putting patients and everyone they encounter in danger otherwise.

They're the ones who deal with our most vulnerable populations - those who are likely to be already sick!

And I'm hoping that my dentist's hygienist qualifies by now. My dentist was fully vaccinated a long time ago as a front line worker, but her hygienist who certainly gets closer than most doctors, wasn't qualified yet - especially since she's under 30! They have always worn masks and gowns, even before this pandemic, but the last time I saw my dentist she was telling me about how many people who were infected that she's known!

This dude can be found at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY: https://creationmuseum.org/.
You and/or your child can sit on this critter for a photo op. They also have exhibits showing people and dinosaurs living together. They actually have quite a bit of dinosaur stuff, according to their (completely insane) website.

I believe the working theory is that the dinosaurs were created at the same tme as all the other animals, but they died in the Flood. Or something like that. I'm not up on all the details.

I have found that a lot of my African American friends are worried about it because it's come out so quickly.

What I'm doing is letting them and others who are skeptical know how I react the shot once I get it. I have already been talking about another family member and her shot with her permission. She had a sore arm, but she's okay.
