Comparing a wait to ride "Pirates of the Caribbean" with waiting to vote

Ben Shapiro said long lines at polling places aren't a sign of voter suppression, comparing them to Disneyland queues

Democrats have criticized the law, saying that it amounts to voter suppression and that Republicans were using it to target Black and other nonwhite voters. Those groups' turnout was credited with flipping the state for Democrats in the latest presidential and US Senate elections in the state.

Shapiro told his namesake "The Ben Shapiro Show" that "voter suppression doesn't involve long lines any more than long lines at Disneyland are ride suppression."

"You know what voter suppression is?" he said. "Voter suppression is where you don't get to vote."

along with broken, nonfunctional machines, limited voting locations with reduced hours, cumbersome registration processes, withholding of water and food while waiting for hours.

Get a fast pass for a disney ride and skip the line. And folks with disabilities can get accomodations. And you can drink water in line. And the lines are much shorter than the worse voting lines.

Is that people walk away from long lines. Ask any grocery worker how many carts are abandoned on a day when too few checking clerks are on duty.

He seems to think people should pay an unlimited amount of time for their vote. No. Time is money.

Because nobody has EVER been at a theme park, looked at a stupidly long line for a ride, and thought, “I don’t have time for this today, maybe next time” — right?

Which is obviously the entire point of these laws that make it harder to vote.
