CBS News: “A Trump-era plan to cut food stamps is now off the table after the Biden administration said it is abandoning a previous plan to tighten work requirements for working-age adults without children. Those restrictions were projected to deny federal food assistance benefits to 700,000 adults, a proposal that had drawn strong condemnation from anti-hunger advocates.”

As much as I am often critical of democratic administrations, this is where the rubber hits the road and why the accusation that "both parties are the same" just isn't true. This is how they are not. This is basic "shouldn't get credit for doing the obvious" kinda of democratic boilerplate. This is the minimum one would expect from a democratic president. And it is that "boilerplate/minimum" that is the reason both parties "aren't the same". We can and should expect "more" from democrats, but it also true that we have to remember that electing democrats over republicans is at the very least because this kind of thing will always be true.

I know a person or two that has had to collect the benefit who would disabuse you of that notion. Less than $4 a day is not living high off the hog.

I'm 74 and on Social Security ($1,200 a month).

I got a letter a couple months that I was receiving a 15% increase in EBT but I'm still getting that $25.

Was hoping for that extra $3.75

19. Work requirements when employment is not a right is inhumane and cruel

Apr 2021

The Great Recession and the Pandemic have proven that work is not plentiful enough to be relied on and insisting on so is cruel and inhumane, and is punishing not only the individual for things outside of their control, but loved ones who are affected by the suffering of the individual.

If right wingers want work requirements, they should also want to breakup big corporations and big tech since a lot of jobs have been lost due to far fewer corporations being in an industry than before. Big tech is also continually destroying jobs in the name of progress and competition.
