6. He might not, given the GOP's culture ...

He probably would if the young lady came out publicly and described particularly unpleasant circumstances (Gaetz drugged her at a party or the like), and was credible.

It's also not unthinkable he has a case for 'not knowing she was underage', such as if she was hired from an Escort site that advertised their escorts as all being of legal age, and the young lady wasn't honest about hers. That sort of thing has happened before. IF that's the case, he probably won't resign then either.

It's also not unthinkable that it is an extortion plot. Unlikely, but not impossible. In that case, he won't resign of course.

Otherwise I would not be terribly surprised if they rally around him just to pwn all us libz.

Of course, there's also the rumors that he is very disliked, so the party just might decide that's more important to them than their 'unity' game, and pressure him to GTFO. But he's a smarmy little shit, so he just might tell them no, I won't go.

I think he's going to end up losing committee assignments though.
