I Blame Reagan For Getting RWNJ's To Hate Government

He was against government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Now the new most terrifying words are "there is an active shooter".

Brought to you in part by dismantling mental health care as much as possible, and blaming welfare queens driving Cadillacs for our problems. Yes we can blame Fox, Rush, Newt, and lots more, but much of the chaos we see now started with Reagan.

Ronald The Piece Of Sh*t Reagan.

http://www.rationalrevolution.net/war/trickle_down.htm

In the 1980’s Ronald Reagan ushered in a new era in American economics as he cut the top tax bracket from 70% down to 50% and then down again to 28%. In order to get support for doing this from the people, and also from politicians, a very crafty set of lies were produced. As David Stockman, then Reagan’s budget director, put it: giving small tax cuts across the board to all brackets was simply a “Trojan Horse” that was used to get approval for the huge top tax bracket cuts. “Trickle-Down” was a term used by Republicans that meant giving tax cuts to the rich. Stockman explains that:

"It's kind of hard to sell 'trickle down,' so the supply-side formula was the only way to get a tax policy that was really 'trickle down.' Supply-side is 'trickle-down' theory."

"Yes, Stockman conceded, when one stripped away the new rhetoric emphasizing across-the-board cuts, the supply-side theory was really new clothes for the unpopular doctrine of the old Republican orthodoxy."

"…the Reagan coalition prevailed again in the House and Congress passed the tax-cut legislation with a final frenzy of trading and bargaining. Again, Stockman was not exhilarated by the victory. On the contrary, it seemed to leave a bad taste in his mouth, as though the democratic process had finally succeeded in shocking him by its intensity and its greed. Once again, Stockman participated in the trading -- special tax concessions for oil -- lease holders and real-estate tax shelters, and generous loopholes that virtually eliminated the corporate income tax. Stockman sat in the room and saw it happen."

"'Do you realize the greed that came to the forefront?' Stockman asked with wonder. 'The hogs were really feeding. The greed level, the level of opportunism, just got out of control.'"

1. I don't blame him for causing it, but I do blame him for legitimizing it

There were plenty of greed-heads, ranting cranks, and conspiracy theorists before him, but once he gave them that big smiling superstar seal of approval they came out from under their rocks and started feeling their oats.

Reagan infamous line about “We’re from the government and we’re here to help” in Philadelphia Mississippi as we all know was no accident.

They used money from polluters, righteousness from evangelicals, and votes from racists to seize power.

the John Birch "society", the anti fluoride water treatment people, the "know nothings"... all the way back to the plantation south and the civil war

Trump took the raging fire that Ray-gun left and which was stoked by Faux and the Rush Limpballs... and turned it into a conflagration

Less than 6% of the world drinks artificially fluoridated water.

Not a good example of what constitutes RWNJ's.

In 2010, a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study determined that 40.7% of adolescents aged 12–15 had dental fluorosis.

same kind of knowledge about government...none. I have no idea who to blame, but it isn't one person, and it certainly isn't a President. Too much machination to achieve desired results. Wealthy white males. Can't go wrong with that choice.

'The hogs were really feeding. The greed level, the level of opportunism, just got out of control.'" It had seemed to me up to that point that Republicans were the “good government” party exemplified by leaders like Bill Scranton but Reagan was revealed to be a scam.

14. It's actually "self-hate", isn't it?

One of the most profound things I've heard Joe Biden say is; "the government is US", "by the people, for the people".

The Retrumplicans have done Yeoman's work to make the United States of America and our Constitutional Government as something "remote", "foreign", "indifferent", EVIL!

Our form of government is US! We ARE the "government"! It's not some nameless, faceless monster that reigns over us. IT IS US!

We have the power to change it!

We have the power to make it work!

To hate the government is to hate yourself.

It's why our country has become so hateful. Retrumplicans have trained people to hate government, because they've trained their voters to hate each other.

in the landslide of 1984. I was 18 and obviously very foolish.

I never got the chance to meet VP Mondale, but if I had I would have apologized profusely to him for that vote
