by Republicans to curtail access to voting.
Thats because with all the shit thats hitting the fan, the only way they can win elections will be if there are only three polling stations per state, theyre all located in Republican strongholds, and theyll only be operational for forty-five minutes per election cycle.
Seriously, folks Gaetz & Greenberg, Trumps pending legal woes, Trump-humping insurrectionists being rounded up, Dominions lawsuits against FOX-News et al, Sydney Powell admitting that the Big Lie actually was a big lie, ongoing investigations that will prompt other investigations and no one knows who will be caught-up in those ever-expanding investigative nets.
There are a lot of Republicans who are Sleepless in DC these nights and for good reason.

(54,436 posts)They know that if everybody votes, they lose. They have two possible courses of action.
Let everyone vote who wants to, and lose.
Prevent people likely to vote Democratic from voting, and win.
Guess which of the two they are choosing to opt for?

(27,818 posts)And what's bleedin' obvious is that the more shit likely to hit the fan in the days to come, the more blatant the GOP has to become in suppressing the votes of the people who are noticing.

(54,436 posts)They just pass rule after rule, saying "people will vote who we WANT to vote, and all others need not apply."

With that plan to take everything, they have everything to lose.

(21,402 posts)Republicans will win, they would have won the last election. There are only 3 states that are not passing voter suppression laws. The laws they are passing puts Republican legislatures in charge of the elections. People who are running for office are going to be in charge of counting the votes. This is happening and if and when it does Republicans will be directly in charge of declaring who won the election.
Under these circumstances, Jerry Sandusky can get elected. My point being that all of the scandals won't matter. We who have morals and principles are not looking at how Republicans operate correctly, they have no morals or principles, of course they will cheat to win and they are making it legal to do so.
Good luck counting on the SC to overturn this. Democrats need to fight fire with fire. We need to add SC justices, NOW.

(58,785 posts)here and there. We'll get to see, won't we?
What the Republicans are doing is scary, all right, but don't be unrealistically scared. Republicans in the state houses of 47 states have written voter suppression bills of various types, but only some states will pass them into law.
Democrats have majorities and or governorships that won't allow passage in 23 states. It'll be interesting to see which of the 27 red-controlled states will actually pass restrictive laws. Some of these states are so white, like Wyoming (which has), that restricting the vote will help clarify their goals. And people are finally paying attention to what they're doing.
As for expanding the court, that seems necessary. But that plan's also in professional hands.

(111,110 posts)Such a salient point.
Trump lawyer admits that it was all a lie and no "reasonable person" would actually believe it.
She must have thought it was all a game? Lying is perfectly OK in politics.
After all, the naive masses are not "reasonable people".
Too bad their base does not understand how they were used in the "Big Lie".

There is no reason for young people, progressives, suburbanites, independents, minorities, anyone with kids or grand kids to vote Republican. In the end the same old god and guns becomes stale when it becomes evident you simply can not govern effectively and have no plans.

(12,592 posts)Imagine a country entirely run by Moscow Mitch. Now double that, and double it again.
If the Repugs have a plan, it's to roll the country back to June 20, 1788, the day before the Constitution was ratified. Then they can stop the entire process of forming a democratic republic and replace it with a Christian fascist oligarchy, as God intended. I don't know what it would say exactly, but I do know Article I, Section 1: "The right to own guns is sacred."
