(9,197 posts)Baseball? Basketball? Monopoly?

(47,395 posts)Could they still be playing basketball? If so, longest season in the world.
No half-time in Monopoly.

(9,197 posts)My college football team is currently playing this spring. They didnt play last fall.
Its the weekend of the Final Four. The NBA usually ends in June.
The original post was about between game events, not halftime. Monopoly is still in the running.

(47,395 posts)Who is playing against them?
The only sport I watch is college football. My daughter and I are graduates of a large university with a great FB team.
They take away your degrees if you don't watch every game.

(9,197 posts)I dont know, because I dont follow them, and Im not a fan of spring football games. Even when I was in school I followed a different team.

(9,197 posts)I have seen students studying during basketball games because it was more quiet in the gym than the library. The football coach literally didnt know how many players he could have on scholarship, and played with fewer than his rivals. The wrestling program, however, was nationally ranked and was rabidly supported. We also had a Big 10 and a Big 8 ( now 12) school in the state.
The football and basketball programs are now quite good, but my allegiance is still with the Big 10 school.

(47,395 posts)Well known football team.
I got my PhD at this school and when I started the program, I knew nothing about football and could care less about the sport. I quickly learned that between the faculty and my fellow students, if I did not become conversant in football, I would become a pariah. I eventually became a huge fan.

(9,197 posts)A good friend who married a classmate worked for a time as associate general counsel at Notre Dame. One of his duties was walking around on game day confiscating unlicensed Irish merchandise from vendors. Notre Dame flew him to LA one year to do it as the USC game.
It was nice to get tickets to games while they were there. (His wife was placement director at the law school.)

(1,787 posts)Disney girl turns slutty? Got to love it!
Edit: This is not a disrespect toward Miley, but rather a dis on Disney. Anytime one of their child stars turns toward adult entertainment, I love it.

(1,787 posts)Disney is so sickly goody that I love it when those actors and actresses open up their sexuality.

(31,261 posts)The young singer who almost killed herself with an unintended drug OD (she has pointed out that her drug dealer left her to die, fortunately one of her assistants was at her home, found her and called in EMT that took the first steps of saving her life) was sexually abused while working for Disney, she can only now come to grips about what happened to her.
I believe that what Disney does with its kid shows reflects the reality that many parents, in particular rightwing evangelicals parents, want people in media, music and sports to be role models to their kids, a demand that ignores to basic facts, famous people didnt decide with those parents to have the kids the parents have, so famous people have no obligation to be role models for the kids. Second, the most important role models for kids are the ones sitting with them at the dinner table each day, if the kids are failing to show desirable social behavior, maybe the parents should look at themselves as the cause.
