V-safe After Vaccination Health Checker
V-safe is a smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Through v-safe, you can quickly tell CDC if you have any side effects after getting a COVID-19 vaccine. Depending on your answers to the web surveys, someone from CDC may call to check on you and get more information. V-safe will also remind you to get your second COVID-19 vaccine dose if you need one.
Note: V-safe cannot schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments, including second dose appointments if required. If you need to schedule, reschedule, or cancel a COVID-19 vaccination appointment, contact the location that set up your appointment or a vaccination provider in your area. This may be your state or local health department, employer, or vaccination provider.

(9,264 posts)It just asks about symptoms. It's a good thing.

(10,177 posts)My final shot was March 3rd, immune day was the 17th, and they are still tracking my health weekly.

(1,278 posts)I'm scheduled for April 13th @ Bank of America Stadium (which is the only sports venue locally I've never visited). I have the CovidNC app, and would love for the CDC version to integrate with it.

(34,195 posts)I had my second shot eight days ago.
I don't know how long I will participate in this survey and keep telling them that I have zero side effects.

(145,667 posts)My son is in the Pfzier trial and was unmasked in Feb (i.e., told that he was in the vaccine group) and given his CDC Vaccine card with the dates of his vaccines in August. Vsafe would not recognize these dates.
I do not mine the weekly check ins by vsafe

(32,823 posts)I'm happy that the medical authorities are concerned about people who might have a bad reaction. But once they have a set of emails or text-ready cellphone numbers, what's to keep them from spamming the living shit out of us?
For me, the "opt-in" works so much better than the "opt-out."

(34,195 posts)CDC's 'V-safe After Vaccination Health Checker' is an "opt-in".
You do not need sign up.

(82,849 posts)I am persuaded that it's a useful tool for public health agencies to track aftereffects of the vaccines. Perhaps there are patterns that can be discerned, or follow-up avenues that suggest themselves from the data gathered. Every daily reminder text I've gotten has always come with the "Text STOP to this number and we'll quit bugging you," so it's easy to change your mind.
I haven't had anything to report for five days now (post first Pfizer shot), and I'll probably opt out when I've gone a week without injection site soreness, body aches, headaches or any of the other symptoms they ask about. To me, they're gathering data in a timely and cheap fashion, and not trying to sell me anything.

(5,480 posts)You get a daily check-in for a short time, then a weekly check-in, and can opt-out at any time.
Glad I'm able to add data points about any side effects. I've had none, other than a slight soreness at the injection site. The second dose had a little more soreness than the first, but nothing to worry about.

(14,858 posts)It's daily check-ins for a week. Then it becomes weekly check-ins.
It will be daily again after the 2nd dose. It later changes to weekly, monthly, etc.
Automatic notifications about booster shots too.
It's super-easy. You simply get a text with a link for the check-ins.
If you report unusual problems, they might call and advise you.
