No, baseball isn't 'woke' for taking All-Star Game out of Georgia
Ive voted in 10 presidential elections. Ive never waited longer than 30 minutes. Often, its been much less than that.
Ive never had to worry about a ride to my polling place or making it there before it closes Im lucky, my job is generally flexible or had to find someone to watch my sons when they were little; I either went during their school hours if my work allowed or when someone else in the family could cover.
Ive never had to travel more than 10 minutes to my polling place.
For me, the act of voting has been simple and relatively easy. Because I dont have to worry about logistics or waiting times. And thats not fair for the millions of Americans who do.
That inequity in our system is why Major League Baseball is pulling its All-Star game from Atlanta. It doesnt support Georgias new election law.
...
So, when MLB pulls its All-Star Game because of a law that makes absentee voting harder and gives more political power over those entrusted to run the elections Georgia's law does this it knows it may lose customers.
Thats fine if you disagree with the stance. Just understand baseball has the right to take one. And that sports cant be separated from the rest of life.
And that voting is much easier for some than for others, and it shouldn't be.
