I currently finding it necessary to work hard to re-elect my Congressman. He is in a very difficult fight this year with the (R) running a nasty, nasty campaign. The issues don't matter much to this man who has said the tea party is "a God send"!!
I am also incorporating some Elizabeth Warren phone banking and visibilities into my work for Congressman Tierney, all while working hard all day trying to score some successes in my (self) employment.
President Obama will win in MA, but he also needs Congressman Tierney and Senator Warren to help him help the country.

(53,778 posts)I've worked on the last two campaigns doing voter reg, phone banking and canvassing. I'm canvassing for 3 hours this morning after I finish my daily DU morning ritual. I encourage everyone else that's physically able and has the time to volunteer at least a couple of hours a week to the campaign. Posting is great but if you can do more, pls do.

(4,507 posts)but I can't say yes to the second.
Still, in my opinion, we're at the point where people who can't say yes to the first really shouldn't be talking about anything.
I know that sounds harsh, but there's a logic to this reality.
If you're going to talk without acting, stop talking and think about why you aren't willing to do something about the things you like talking about so much!

(11,477 posts)doing something what an accomplishment! Even spend time distributing bumper stickers and getting signs to people.
We all must do our part in some way. Like those who mentioned taking food. I walk in to my headquarters in Ohio and they are begging for help!!
I work and 8 hour and day job......yet find time on my lunch hour and sometimes even after work to stop at headquarters and see what I do.
Each person really does make a difference!!!

If you're just talking, you're doing it all wrong.

(22 posts)I live in NY, so I have traveled to PA in 2004, 2008 to canvas and walk the streets. I am in line for a hip replacement so walking is tough. Instead, I am phone banking several times a week in different locations. It is heart warming to see how many locations there for every day of the week, and how worked up the people are!

(320 posts)I've worked at our local OFA office every week since August, and will continue to do so until the election. I work a 30 hr week, and I homeschool my kids, but I've still managed to squeezein the time.
I've also set aside the entire day on Nov 6 to be in the office, doing whatever is needed. Driving people to the polls, running papers between field offices, getting food, whatever.
