My point is there has been far more than 23 mass shootings. NutmegYankee Oct 2012 #15

My problem is the view that the USA is an inherently violent place. NutmegYankee Oct 2012 #18
It's called whitewash, ad your attempt to blow these massacres off is abhorrent DainBramaged Oct 2012 #19

and so on. I suppose in some of those it wasn't guns it was machetes, which I choose death by gun myself, but there have been a lot of innocents killed by very few across the world in the past 20 years. And I have to say, if I'm going to die a violent death, I'd prefer a gun and a clean kill over some of the methods used in many of the massacres and un-righteous killings that have happened.

occurred in the US.

Also with 320 million people we're going to be near the top for a lot of crimes if you simply look at the raw data. A rate based on population would be more useful.

A single number doesn't mean much given the horrible shootings and murders occurring routinely in various locations. The death tolls in Nigeria due to machetes alone are stunningly bad - 200-500 murdered in one day. Woman and children were not spared. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35759877/ns/world_news-africa/t/machete-wielding-rioters-kill-nigeria/#.UHnv8VFKz6I

I never implied any of what you just said. I attacked the use of a number without the ability to compare it to similar occurrences worldwide.

It's not pick and choose, it's fact, keep trying, you folks who choose to try and ignore facts are the ones losing this election.

We are by no means the most violent place in the world. The list didn't show the mass shooting that occur daily around the world. Hell, look at the cartel murders in Mexico.

Our society is hardly that violent.

I don't think I'm going to be conversing with you further. If you think these deaths are basically no big deal, we as a country are no better than the Mexico or other places where people dying (you think) are no big deal.

Democrats do not think like that, not here, not ever. Have a wonderful life. I hope tragedy at the barrel of a gun never affects your life.

I have issues with the view that the US, and only the US, has a problem.

And for the record, one of my professors was killed in the Virginia Tech Massacre.
