Army Lt. Nazario was driving his new car home. He was pulled over, pepper sprayed, & arrested.

Ana Navarro-Cárdenas@ananavarro·3h
Dear God. How many more of these do we have to see? How many of these have happened and we haven’t seen?

And there are still willingly blind people who deny systemic racism exists in America....

Army Lt. Nazario was driving his new car home. He was pulled over, pepper sprayed, and arrested without explanation.

This is racism. It’s about the domination and humiliation of a Black man because he asked questions and “didn’t comply.”

As Ana Navarro stated...this is systemic racism. When will cops stop this sh*t

Gutierrez acknowledged that Nazario's decision to drive to a lighted area happens to him “a lot, and 80% of the time, it's a minority,” Arthur said, quoting the officer.

And why wouldn't they de-escalate once they found out he was active duty military?

Neither have the disposition to be a cop. Power goes to their pea brain heads. And Guittierez, isn't that a Latino name? He should be ashamed going along with the racist white cop in this outrage.

There is nothing magical about being in the military that justifies a change in treatment because he is in the military.

(NO ONE should be treated in this manner; his employment is completely irrelevant. I'm tired of military worship.)

I spend a fair amount of time biting my tongue at all of the posts here (and elsewhere) that elevate military service above all the other jobs people do that (from my perspective) are at least - if not more - valuable. Yours is not the only one in GD today.

Every once in a while it just gets too annoying and I make a comment.

The suit also alleges that the officers told Nazario that if he would just “chill and let this go,” they would let him go with no charges. Otherwise, they would arrest and charge him and it could hurt his military career.

... filed a lawsuit alleging racial profiling and excessive use of force against two Windsor, Virginia, police officers who pulled him over in December last year, apparently, because they couldn’t see the temporary license plate on the SUV that the man had just purchased.

The Root quotes Vice:
Nazario looked in the mirror and saw he was being held at gunpoint, then placed his cellphone on his dashboard to film the December 5 encounter. He repeatedly asked to know what was going on. At one point, he even admitted to being afraid to leave the vehicle.

“Yeah, you should be,” one of the officers responded.

Nazario, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, was coming home from work and in full uniform at the time.

“I’m serving this country, and this is how I’m treated?” Nazario told the officers, according to his cellphone video.

By the end of the incident, the cops would threaten Nazario, pepper-spray him in the face, and knee-strike him in the legs, according to body camera footage, Nazario’s cellphone video, and legal filings. Later, when Nazario was in tears and on the ground of a gas station parking lot as officers put him in handcuffs, he repeated, “This is fucked up, this is fucked up.”

Then, when services go down the tubes, people can get pissed and vote out the current batch of powers that be.

There was another post on this thread that made the point that this is a systemic problem, and so this kind of racism is a feature of the system rather than just a couple of bad cops.

Of course, any incident to abuse for driving while black is offensive. They're are horrendous - I get it.

However, this young officer was wearing the uniform of the US Army. These (expletive omitted) cops attacked ever person who is or ever has worn the uniform. I want their hides tanned and hanged on the front gate of this young officer's post.

Yes, I'm pissed.

The cop yells to a frightened unarmed black man, “You're fixin’ to ride the lightning!” as shown in the body camera footage.

“This is a colloquial expression for an execution, originating from glib reference to execution by the electric chair,” the lawsuit alleges.

Its a very small town. If they get sued and lose, they are going to be wiped out and rightly so. This kind of shit has to stop. Virginia almost ended qualified immunity this year. It passed the house and narrowly was killed in senate. Its only a matter of time until that is ended. At which point, officers who are just racist assholes or on power trips will face the consequences.

Each precinct across the nation must fire a 3rd of the force at at a time. they then should go through pressure situation testing by a 3rd party. if they pass, no problem! Back on the force, full bennies restored.

The goal would be to weed out maybe 2% or 4% of these asshole cops off the force nation wide. I truly believe there are a ton of good cops out there, but these types of jerks need to go!

He was still in control after he had been pepper sprayed by the fascist cowards. He was worried about his dog!!!!!!!
If he would have reached into his car to take off his seat belt and open the door the fascist police would have SHOT him.
We all know it is true. He is a hero.

This fascism must stop. This is not how America works.
Fascism: a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and strong regimentation of society and of the economy.

Black veterans of WWII were lynched in the south after WWII. Nothing has changed!
