(24,438 posts)I think that I ran a slight fever the day after my second shot but it wasn't debilitating, just felt a bit warmer than usual for part of the day. No biggie. I've never had any bad reactions to vaccinations to date.

(25,984 posts)All I got from either one was slight soreness in the arm for 2-3 days afterward. I was actually hoping for a stronger reaction from the 2nd one, which would reassure me that I was producing antibodies. Maybe my theory is wrong.

(3,650 posts)So, I guess we'll have to dig up a legitimate reason to hate you
My wife and I are five-plus hours past our second Moderna shot. My arm is hurting like a bugger, but that's a minor annoyance compared to what some people have experienced. So we hope, like you, to remain side-effect free as we roll into tomorrow.
Good luck to us all.

(44,974 posts)Side effects usually start about 8 hours after the shot.

(65,191 posts)...roughly 14 hours of fever (but, no chills) and myalgia in the upper back.
Hit me a half hour after I woke up the morning after the shot, so around 5:30am.
By 7:30 that night it was gone.
So, no horror story here. Just felt a bit crummy for half a day.

(3,694 posts)We're all a little different, or maybe a lot different. I'm finally starting to feel better. I may have been my heart medication or just my body's reaction. Doesn't matter. I'd do it again. Much better than a ventilator and I'm helping my community. I honestly hope you continue to enjoy no side effects.

(63,221 posts)until about 9:30pm. I feel like I am coming down with the flu. Achy, weak, very uncomfortable. No arm pain though. I don't have a fever or anything yet.
I read that women and people in the 18-59 year old range tend to come down with more side effects than men and people over 60. It has something to do with the way immune systems react.
Anyway, I feel like hell. I just hope it goes away quickly and that I can get a decent night's sleep.
Glad you are feeling ok!

(11,771 posts)I used the arm they jabbed a lot, just as I do with my annual flu shot, and I didn't have soreness unless I applied pressure to the injection site. My second jab is on Wednesday. I scheduled for my days off, just in case. I am jazzed! My 77 y/o sis is getting her second Pfizer at the end of the month. She's diabetic2, insulin dependent, plus other issues. I will sleep in the living room with her that night to monitor her. She's been such a trooper through this whole mess, I am so proud of her.

(7,947 posts)I usually have a reaction to the flu shot, had one with the shingles shot. But nothing now! And it's more effective than the flu shot ever is.

(11,498 posts)That you all feel. After I had bad reaction and sick for 4 days, I kept reading we can still get virus even with shots and I think does that mean I will get sick? That every booster shot I will?
I am grateful I won't die, but I don't feel safe to live life like before. We went out to dinner to celebrate two weeks after our shots and all I felt was scared not excited for a special time out.
I think its going to take me a long time to feel safe again.

(14,857 posts)Moderna for me, so I'm anticipating at least some degree of unpleasant immunological reaction. Still worth it! (I'll get the 2nd dose later this week.)
https://www.statnews.com/2021/02/02/comparing-the-covid-19-vaccines-developed-by-pfizer-moderna-and-johnson-johnson/
-----
Each dose of Pfizers contains 30 micrograms of vaccine. Moderna went with a much larger dose of vaccine, 100 micrograms. It means the company is using a little more than three times as much vaccine per person as Pfizer is. And yet, they arent getting better results. The governments vaccine development program, formerly called Operation Warp Speed, has asked Moderna to test if it could lower the dosage of its vaccine without eroding the vaccines protection.

And a recently published paper:
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2778441?
-----
A greater percentage of participants who received the Moderna vaccine, compared with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, reported reactogenicity; this pattern was more pronounced after the second dose (Table).

(44,974 posts)Side effects were definitely more pronounced than after the first dose. But not too bad. And I know my immune system got into high gear since I had side effects.
As for whether it is worth it-that's not even a question for me-of course it is.
Buckeye_Democrat
(14,857 posts)I'm so eager to get that 2nd dose! If I even feel pretty ill for a few days, I agree that it's worth it!
Then I'll finally be less of a hermit, a couple weeks afterwards when I should reach maximum immunity. Nothing dramatic, and still fully masked, but I haven't even walked inside a grocery store in over a year. It's all been pick-up orders.
