Hawaii to roll out vaccine passport program by summer

Hawaii Gov. David Ige (D) on Friday approved a vaccine passport program for inter-island travel that could begin as early as May and expand to out-of-state travel by the summer, Forbes reports.

The outlet reports Hawaii is working with the developers of multiple apps including Clear, CommonPass and FirstVitals to help with their pre-flight vaccination verification program. This requirement can be avoided if an individual provides a negative COVID-19 tests with 72 hours of departure.

The vaccine passport program is seen by tourism officials as a way to speed up the state's recovery, Forbes notes.

"Businesses have lost a lot of money during this whole period here so there's a lot to recoup," president and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism and Lodging Association, Mufi Hannemann, told local media.

The RightWing can scream all they want. If any Repub legislatures and governors try to outlaw them, I think they'll lose in court. Private businesses have liability issues.

You have to produce proof of vaccination to attend school, as well as Summer Camps.

I know a winery in California that required all of their employees be vaccinated, they even arranged a vaccination day on site. 11 workers declined, they told those 11 they are on furlough for one month, get the vaccine or they will be fired.

Seems harsh, but the company that owns them owns many properties and CA has laws around what you have to do to reopen if you have an employee outbreak and it was very costly. So they couldn't afford the risk on non vaccinated people working for them. Furthermore, they want to advertise to customers their their staff is fully vaccinated.

People will fight this, but they will lose in court, businesses have this right, and a state has the right too.

can afford to travel to Hawaii.

They'll have to be content with storming their local Capitol building...

It’s the only to get travel flowing now.

That means airlines will start requiring it in advance for flights to Hawaii.

The number of vaccinated is growing by millions each day.

They are supposed to be taking a cruise around Hawaii this fall. She told me that she and her husband won’t be getting vaccinated. They are Right-wing, maybe this will change their minds !
