I listened to the audio of the tape that was played on various news outlets. It sounded to me like the once the cop shooter said "I shot him!" One of the other cops shouted "HOOYAAH!!" (the Marine shout) to which the cop who shot the victim yelled "YEAH!" It was like both were shouting some kind of victory yell.
Did anyone else hear the same thing?

(5,940 posts)It doesn't look to me as though the reactions of either the shooter or her fellow officer are celebratory.

(1,450 posts)Except for one time, I heard the audio out of view of the video. Watching the video diverted my attention from the audio. You have to listen to the audio from the longer version of the video. Sime outlets cut off right when the cop who shot the victim begins her yell.
Since last night I have been trying to find the clip with the audio but it seems to have disappeared. There are lots of still clips but now I can't the video.

(6,829 posts)No way was she holding that up in front of her face that long and never noticed it's her gun, not the taser

(15,827 posts)Sounds like they were very upset and horrified that this happened.

(22,357 posts)They're clearly both flooded with adrenaline, which accelerated the situation. They came into the situation on edge and focused on making a Black man behave at all costs, and went from there.

(1,450 posts)Earlier, a much longer clip of the bodycam was played. Unless it was recorded by some viewers I bet the longer version will not be played again.

(1,450 posts)Each time I heard the audio of that I was some distance from the TV but it sent a chill down my spine. Especially the cop yelling what I thought was "YEa" or "YES!"

(8,580 posts)And the other cops were horrified too.
This was not an intentional murder, it was a negligent homicide.

(5,938 posts)Also, they now yell "taser taser taser" when they have a gun out- to protect themselves later, as we see in this case. They should only be issued tasers, no need for every last traffic cop to have a gun.

(3,635 posts)while kneeling on him... the cops are well versed in CYA tactics.

(86,650 posts)Yelled "Taser" in order to cover whatever happened next. Sorry but 26 years on the force and she makes that mistake?
Doesn't even pass the initial smell test.
GONG!

(6,829 posts)FIVE full seconds she had her gun out in front of her face.
Go ahead folks, pick up any item, aim it in front of you and count to five.
This cop had 26 fucking years on the force and didn't realize? Grabbed the WRONG side weapon after literally decades of experience?
No fucking way. They're pissed over the Chauvin trial and some black person had to die

(10,168 posts)She sounded panicked and horrified to me, and the other male cop sounded shocked.
This is the result of militarized police, and a rightfully terrorized black kid who lives in a world where he could very well be murdered by the police...and he was.
This was not a rookie mistake. She's been on the force fo over a decade, and is so heavily armed she grabbed the wrong weapon handle. It's almost now cartoonish, except the young man/boy is dead. It makes me sick...again.

(18,669 posts)But I believe you are incorrect.
The verbal and physical reactions seemed genuine and I believe it was a terrible mistake. However mistakes have consequences, life and legal.
