POC and gun control

So I found the affidavit for the arrest of Daunte Wright that led to his warrant. Basically a white lady supposedly saw him take a gun from his waist band and place it in his car. She called 911 about seeing a gun in a car with four black guys Daunte was in the back seat. The police stopped the car and during the stop supposedly he took off. The police after searching the car “found” a pistol. The other guys all said the gun wasn’t theirs so since Daunte left the scene they charged him with “Misdemeanor Carry/Possess Firearm without a Permit”

51st and Bryant Ave North is where the stop occurred
52nd and Bryant Ave North is the corner store where the caller was in the parking lot

I get wanting to do something after a mass shooting but we also know laws are not applied the same. Most gun laws have their heritage in racism and will still be applied that way. What those cops saw on the warrant because someone called police on a black man led to his death.

I wonder if that random white lady even considers she helped kill Daunte.

Her Facebook shows a white lady in Minneapolis. The internet is a hell of a tool.

If they saw someone with a gun they would call the police because you can't know the intentions of the person with the gun. Are you suggesting we need to consider skin color before making that call?

All laws seem to be enforced more strictly on POC. Drug laws, gun laws, driving laws every one of those. Be mindful of what laws get passed and who they will be enforced against. I’m not against having laws don’t mistake that but look at the lives ruined by the War on Drugs. Just understand it is not a level playing field.

There were some that suggested, with a wink and a nod, that the person with a gun might "resist" or "reach for their waist". The implication being fairly obvious.

8. Calling police can and does get people killed

When you walk around with a hammer everything looks like a nail.
You see a young man carrying a pistol in his waistband and call the police. Now what you don’t realize is he has been threatened by a local drug dealer in a rough part of town. The police arrive and say the same crap “he was reaching” boom dead.
I live in what many would consider a backwards dumb red state, Oklahoma we are one of 19 states that have constitutional carry. I know for a fact if you made that call to 911 here you would be asked are they threatening anyone? If not it goes in as COS or check to own satisfaction and basically ignored because everyone almost has a gun on them. I just got home from Walgreens and counted two of the five customers with a gun I could make out. I don’t know which is better anymore when it comes to gun control if I’m being honest about real world consequences. Similar to drug laws and the hell they have caused POC maybe a rethink on gun control is due.

him, and I hope the cop who killed him never knows peace again...cold blooded murderer despite the laughable excuses...and by the way running away is not an excuse for a cop to shoot you. Also, how many white kids have guns but are shot by the police? I have not heard of any. I hope the person who called the cops feels like crap forever too. Clearly. We have White men and women arriving at grocery stores with longs guns...but a Black kid is a threat.

My daughter's boyfriend was Black. She dated him for over a year. I was in the car twice when he got pulled over...never happened with any of her White boyfriends by the way. The cop got out of the car in a very aggressive, belligerent, angry matter and for what a failure to signal appropriately. The cop was spoiling for a fight. I asked him how soon you were supposed to turn on your signal because then you get hit when people think you are turning...I asked what specific law was on the books...he backed down some when he saw me and my daughter (White).
