And one opposing Senator will stop the country from these things that we desperately need to do. It will also enable the GOP to gain back control to further destroy this country.
So we will fail because 99.6% of the Democrats is not enough to move forward.
Many of these things have 70% to 80% public support. But still, with 0% elected Republicans and a single Democrat, we see no progress.
We really needed a couple of more Dem Senators.
Thank you Maine, for giving us back Collins after you voted for Biden.
Fiendish Thingy
(15,625 posts)The fight is not in November 2022, the fight is NOW, in the streets, in the neighborhoods and in the faces of the obstructionist senators.

Beastly Boy
(9,375 posts)But let me disagree with your statement that only one opposing senator bears the responsibility for stopping the needed legislation . The problem is that 99.6% of the Democrats only make up 49% of the Senate. Personally, I don't care what party affiliation the opposition is made up of. Each one of the 51 (or 52, depending on how you count them) opposing senators is equally responsible for blocking the path forward, so I am not sure if inordinate emphasis on a single Democrat does anything other than detract from the issue.
This is a 2022 election issue. We need 52 Democratic senators. With one more senator, Manchin loses all relevance.
