A haircut! First one in a year. Now, though, a guy has to make an appointment at the barbershop and wear a mask.
My barber said that starting about a month ago, he has been completely booked. I got in on a cancellation. Apparently, a lot of old geezers like me are showing up again to get their ears lowered.
So, I am suitably shorn.

(146,317 posts)Watching my curly locks fall onto the barber's apron, I see that my hair is now the same color it was as a child. Am I getting younger?

(23,350 posts)I haven't been to a barber in a year. I don't know if he still works at the shop. He commuted daily from Canada, and I don't know if barbers were exempted from the closure.

(31,518 posts)apprehensive about having anyone that close to my face. I know that's a little paranoid, but I can put up with these split ends a little while longer.
I am, however, looking forward to spending weekends again with family and friends who are also vaccinated.

(9,074 posts)I've only gotten one Pfizer shot so far (second on the 27th), but I got a haircut yesterday.
I'm sure it's different in other states, but in California, we've had places open. Masks, distancing, lighter appointment load, etc.
It is nice, though. Because I'm now working from home, I let my hair go for a lot longer. It's thick and grows fast, but for whatever reason, I let it go for almost four months. Trying to rinse out shampoo was an epic morning journey. Feel so much better. It's made my entire week.
I'm pretty sure the barber took the giant pile left on the floor to make a new puppy.

(58,785 posts)I'd been thinking of it over a year ago, frankly, even though she's close, inexpensive, and good, after she didn't vote in 2020. I accepted her being a purple-haired nihilist whose child was taken away by the courts, but someone who won't vote against rising fascism because she doesn't like government's (almost) too much for me. "Almost" as in I did call to see if she was vaccinated.
Sigh.

(3,486 posts)stylists would do house calls and the haircut would be outside on the back patio. Longest I went between haircuts in the past year was about 6 weeks.

It's been over a year since my last haircut.

(175,742 posts)The salon I had gone to (though not that often) unfortunately has permanently closed. Even worse, I didn't know my stylist's last name. I really like her and she totally gets my beachy-breezy-blowy style, as well as my hatred of hair spray.
Today, I tried a different search and found out that she's gone to a place just down the street from her old place. Once things have become more normal and I'm no longer dealing with the aftermath of a fractured ankle, that's where I'm going! Debbie, here I come!
