(CNN) - Topics for the third and final presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney were announced by the moderator and debate commission on Saturday.
Moderator Bob Schieffer of CBS News has selected five topics, though the Commission on Presidential Debates said those topics could change depending on news developments

Schieffer really wants Romney to win, if he is going to push the drums of war.

(27,315 posts)From previous FTN, I doubt Schieffer will challenge him the way Ryan was challenged by the moderator. I just hope this time Obama will go after him more loudly.

(16,254 posts)I thought both parties had to approve? If so, how did Schieffer and Crowley...as well as the first one, name just flew off into cyberspace, get named? All three are leaning RW, aren't they? I guess it didn't matter in the first debate, since he got stepped on and rarely talked.

McCurry, co-chairmen of the non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), today announced the moderators for the 2012 general election presidential and vice presidential debates. The moderators, and the schedule and locations for the debates (as announced on October 31, 2011), are as follows:

President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney Topic: Town meeting format including foreign and domestic policy
Air Time: 9:00-10:30 p.m. Eastern Time
Location: Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York
Sponsor: Commission on Presidential Debates
Participants: President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney
Moderator: Candy Crowley (CNN Chief Political Correspondent)
The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, in which citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues. Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion. The town meeting participants will be undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization.

The format for the debate will be identical to the first presidential debate and will focus on foreign policy.
