I've lost count. And it sure as hell sounds like time for more "asks" when my Indivisible group puts together next week's Call to Action email.

3. CNN just showed 147 mass shootings in the U.S. so far this year

More than one per day. So disheartening.

4. Fabulous inquiry. Got me googling. First off, most sites only report the most infamous events.

I found a site, Gun Violence, and its archives are detailed. Having looked at it, I'm honestly rather queasy. If their statistics are accurate, every news outlet should be giving a running tally every day.

Secondly, they didn't spell out their qualifying criteria. I think there was a link. I've read in other places that a mass shooting involves 4 or more injuries or deaths. I don't know at what point, if any, a mass shooting becomes a massacre.

I counted 150 mass shootings so far this year. That's at least 600 dead or injured.

The archive also has other subdivisions. Suicide is. Police killings. Etc.
