4. The end of his CNN interview, talking about McConnell playing his cards

close and being a great leader, tipped Boehner's own hand. He disapproves of some things Republicans in congress have done but is all in on the direction the Republican insurrectionists are going.

He couldn't be anything else given the central part he played in the middle of a period in which we know GOP leaders had given up on democracy, had been adopting increasingly fascistic tactics for taking power, and were becoming increasingly authoritarian with every Republican administration. But given his continuous waffling on almost every question, I appreciated seeing him expose himself so clearly.

8. Remember Boehner passing out tobacco checks on the house floor?

Boehner has been a champion of the rotting system by big money interest and only now appears to have some honor because he doesn’t seem as bad as the MAGA crowd. If you view it in lives lost, tobacco has killed many more citizens than Trump’s Covid crisis, but I doubt that he will show any guilt for that in his book.
