Donald Trump Jr. has emerged as a key political adviser and wields major influence over his father ever since former President Donald Trump left the White House, CNN reports.
Trump Jr. has used his new and considerable sway to push his father to go all-in on issues the GOP sees as inflection points in a culture war, including transgender rights, the role of big technology and social media companies, and voting and election policy, the news outlet said.
Trump, for example, spent a chunk of his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February outlining his opposition to female transgender students playing in women's sports and put out a statement slamming Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson for vetoing a bill that would have restricted gender-affirming care for trans youth.
Trump hasn't yet announced a 2024 presidential bid but also hasn't ruled out a comeback run, putting the rest of the prospective GOP presidential field in a holding pattern until the former president makes a move.

My dad would have slapped me if I kissed up to him the way Don Jr. does to his dad.

(142 posts)Running a losing candidate up against the same person they lost to is bad idea. It typically results in another loss. Plus, I think by now pretty much everyone has made their mind up about Trump. I think it would be very hard for him to do much better against Biden than he did in the past election. I think there are people that voted for him the last time that won't vote for him again since he was such poor sport about losing that he basically egged on that whole uprising at the Capitol. I think a lot of people are satisfied with how Biden has been handling the vaccination distribution and they generally like that we have a president that's not tweeting out crazy stuff 24/7. I doubt they'll want to go back to the insanity of the Trump years. The GOP needs to move on.

(19,204 posts)have qualified him as a top political consultant. I've seen bumper stickers with "Don Jr. 2024" on them already. What the hell are these Trump Humpers thinking? The old man was bad enough. Junior would be twice nightmare his father was.
