(12,165 posts)Though I hope prison life is as hard (or harder) on him than others who are there for lesser crimes.
He comes across as a psychopath. I doubt he will be tormented with remorse beyond feeling sorry for himself. And the right wing is casting him as some kind of victim. The people who are defending him and people like him are sickening.

(5,810 posts)Very much sleep last night if at all. Oh, boo hoo for him. Meanwhile, Mr. Floyd is in eternal sleep. 😔

(12,426 posts)Now, reality is sinking in....time for him to evaluate his thinking...so far, he appeared to believe he had done things just right...not his fault...just doing his job....Now, he can reassess his actions...as if watching the trial videos didn't do the the trick....now, these memories will be there for reference...
Many, many cops and correction officers think along these lines...arrogance took over with this one along with no respect to the citizen being innocent until proven guilty...thinks everyone is guilty and the need to show massive power control is paramount in their minds...verses controlling the situation safely as the priority.

(34,115 posts)the Top Dog, it at least seems he certainly thought of himself that way for quite a long time, to being the new guy on the block. That cannot be comfortable or very safe unless they are isolating him from the general population. That cannot be very comfortable either. I really wonder what this will do to him long term. I don't really care except it would be nice if he learned something from this other than still thinking how he, as a good guy, was taken down wrongfully.
While I take no pleasure in others pain this sure did feel right and good to see happen. My tears were of joy to finally see this happen. I have no sorrow for him and am very skeptical he will learn, or even try to learn anything socially positive.
For all of us out here I hope this is a huge step to correcting the horrible bigotry in this country. I hope this is a start of a movement or the encouragement of people to join with movements already in place. BLM
Just random thoughts as I drink my morning tea. I am so glad he is getting punished for what he has done for years. I do not think there is enough that will be done for actual justice but I hope he feels like that has happened.

(146,324 posts)It's closer to Stillwater, on the banks of the St. Croix river, just south of Stillwater.
As usual, Fox gets it wrong again.
The prison is a 15 minute drive from my home in St. Paul. It's a 30 minute drive from Minneapolis.

(70,273 posts)he was transferred to a state prison. they do the same in WI-fresh from court-- as they say. I am familiar with the WI 'intake' system--the women's correctional intake in Taycheedah in Fon du lac WI -where I had placed nursing students. [had some at Mens intake--which is MUCH larger--at Dodge] =--they do physicals, help with pys evaluations. medication assessment and observations of how inmates get along and respond to new rules, regs. etc etc.
After about 8 weeks they are transferred to a state prison based on this assessment. I suspect MN has a similar system--but not sure.
Anyway, just musing.

(146,324 posts)They don't even know St. Paul is the state capital, nor where it is in the state.
The Twin Cities metro area is quite large. It surprises people who don't live here.
But, hey, we're a flyover state, see...
Chauvin will be in that facility until after sentencing. It is Minnesota's only maximum security state prison. It's close to the Twin Cities. It's a outer ring suburb, actually. Highway 36 is a quick way to get across the metro on the northern side. I use it all the time.
