A Virginia man was shot multiple times by a sheriff’s deputy after the deputy gave him a ride home, left and then was called back to the man’s home for help.

Isaiah Brown, 32, is in intensive care with 10 bullet wounds after being shot outside his home in Spotsylvania County early Wednesday, his family says.

The home health care aide’s family told News4 they have no idea why the deputy opened fire.

“The officer just started shooting at him for no reason. I didn’t hear a warning shot. All I heard was ‘Hands up!’ one time. And all he had was his phone, so I know he put his hands up,” Isaiah Brown’s brother, Tazmon Brown, said.

12. That's the funny thing about gunshot wounds. They're remarkably non-fatal.

They cause a lot of damage, but the human body is incredibly resilient. The only way to 'ensure' a kill with a gun is to aim somewhere lethal; heart, head, upper torso, or femoral artery in the legs. There's a -lot- of wasted space otherwise though, and if you're shot in that 'empty' space, you've got something like a 90% chance to live if you get to a hospital within 10-15 minutes. It's not completely unheard of to be shot 20, 30 times and survive, so long as nothing vital gets hit. More often than not, a person dies not of the direct trauma of the bullet wound, but 'shock' compounding and complicating it.

The human body is fascinating in its resilience, durability, and healing capacities.

8. Well, the cop gave him a ride, which he is not obligated to do.

So why would he shoot him? I don't think we are getting the whole story here. Did the cop know him?
