This is a complete lie and Ive seen it no less than five times this morning already. The Biden plan includes no such thing.

Joe Bidens climate plan includes cutting 90% of red meat from our diets by 2030. They want to limit us to about four pounds a year. Why doesnt Joe stay out of my kitchen?
If you care to have a taxonomy of what happened, Biden announced a goal to cut emissions by 2030. It didnt include anything about how Americans consumption would change, so the Daily Mail more or less made some things up and threw them in an infographic.

Then that infographic got disseminated throughout the Murdoch sphere as though it was Bidens plan. But theres nothing in Bidens plan about any of it. The Daily Mail p much invented it wholecloth.

(8,090 posts)I'm not asking for some major response, just a carefully crafted tweet to absolutely level her. And mention pork sliders. Probably not from Biden but maybe the DNC. Ted Lieu and Eric Swalwell excel at this.

Throw back in their faces that any stimulus money they received was thanks to Democrats? She'll always have gunz and immigration to rely on...

(19,258 posts)Whether or not the numbers are accurate, the truth is that we can't keep eating meat, especially red meat, at our current levels and hit emission reduction goals. Livestock farming requires significant carbon inputs, and those can't easily be reduced while still churning our billions of pounds of meat annually.
If we priced red meat to reflect it's climate impact, hamburger would be $10/lb and steak $20/lb. The fact I can still get a cheeseburger under $2 is insane with the damage climate change is set to unleash. That can't continue if we want to have a fighting chance. And this is where we'll see demand reduced, by higher costs. Ultimately, plant-based or lab-grown meat will have to replace a good chunk of our farmed meats. And since climate change and aquifer depletion on the Great Plains is set to devastate farming by mid-century, we better move fast.
The Democrats are fools if they don't get ahead of this message. Stop denying it, or we'll all look like liars.
Elessar Zappa
(14,046 posts)that meat prices need to be significantly raised would lose us the election. Of course, Dems didn't say that and Boebert is a lying dipshit.

(14,046 posts)but we shouldn't campaign on it or else Repubs will stay in office and continue doing nothing.
NickB79
(19,258 posts)Impossible and Beyond are good, but they're still more expensive than real meat, and the flavor isn't 100% yet.
And you can bet the GOP WILL campaign on it, when meat prices go up significantly in coming years. We need an effective response to that planned out, because Americans love meat.
Kaleva
(36,340 posts)If impact on climate was factored in, the price would increase by $146%
"Study: Meat Would Cost 146% More If We Factored In Climate Change"

My guess is that people would be willing to pay that.
NickB79
(19,258 posts)Given how much meat we eat, though, that would add hundreds, if not thousands, to an average family's grocery bill annually.
It would be really easy for a politician to campaign on that resentment and win big.
