They all have to practice to get their stories straight when there is 7 possible murderers.
Might take a while.....

Because crump was just talking very loud about it on sidewalk?

(18,486 posts)But here we go again with "Crump screaming"I've heard Attorney Crump speak many times. I've never heard him scream.
But maybe just like some people see Black men as more dangerous than they would see a white person, some people also assume Black people are "screaming" when they are speaking in a normal tone of voice.
I can only imagine what you would have been saying about Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and and John Lewis back in the day - people often accused them of screaming, too whenever they said things that made white people the least bit uncomfortable.

Yea he's dangerous

(115,836 posts)Is it screaming only when Black people comment about Black people getting killed by police?

(18,486 posts)They were corrected before, so this is not a slip.
Competent, passionate, eloquent and effective Black men scare the shish out of some people.

(18,486 posts)"Black person is talking too loud" = "Black person is talking loud enough for me to hear him and I don't like what he's saying."
sop
(10,243 posts)proportional to the officer's degree of culpability. If the video exonerates the cop, it'll be out there faster than it takes a trigger happy racist cop to gun down an unarmed black man. When the video is damning, you have to pry the body cam video out of their cold, dead hands, and cop fluffers start attacking the family's attorney

(115,836 posts)that he had a "medical incident" and died at the hospital. If it hadn't been for Darnella Frazier's video the truth might never have come out. It might never have even been investigated. So Crump has every right to emphatically demand the release of the videos in this case.

(18,486 posts)Isn't it funny how often, when there's a video, the video contradicts the original story?
Police have a long history of lying and creating false records regarding the killing and abuse of black victims. And yet, people here are acting as if the fact that Benjamin Crump is skeptical makes him some kind of wild-eyed-crazy dangerous person.
The question isn't why is Attorney Crump distrustful of the police story. The question is why isn't EVERYBODY? You have to be ignorant or just a flat out idiot (or something else) to take what they say at face value.

(3,247 posts)It has to go through the courts, and a judge has to issue an order to release the video. Not sure if that's the case in this particular incident, though.

(102,357 posts)I agree. At first, I thought that was a BS excuse, but it does appear NC law is somewhat different/specific on this compared to most states, so that it may well be true that local LE and officials do not have the unilateral authority to release.

(12,319 posts)not being able to tell the same story EVEN while watching each other testify, ... with 7 to 10 defendants, they will take forever to craft a story. It won't work though. Too many perpetrators.

(52,166 posts)which does give time for the locality to watch the video and comport their report with the video. One hopes they won't do so, but the history of police behavior doesn't inform that hope. Elizabeth City is a majority Black city in a majority white county. The shooting is by the sheriff's dept not the city police.

(3,496 posts)Unless the victim was trying to run over a police officer this department and officer are in deep crap.

(4,619 posts)Actually many times before. Then a bunch more times. Then a lot of times before too. Then some more times.
If the police were without fault, then the video would be out there already.

(6,565 posts)that they told anyone they are redacting. But, perhaps they just want to hide the point at which he died. They often don't show stuff like that, by using freeze frame. They can't count on each individual outlet to be responsible like that. At this point, I want to see the whole thing.
Here in Cali, I remember a guy involved in a police chase. who got cornered on a freeway bridge. The helicopters had an excellent view of what happened next. It was utterly gruesome. After that, they instituted. on their own, policies against showing everything. And, that particular corner of hell got redacted completely.
Not everything is a danged conspiracy. If there is anything at all to exonerate what they did, they'll show it no matter what it costs. My guess is one cop shot without reason, and the rest piled on. But, we'll see.
brush
(53,847 posts)WTH? Doesn't redacting mean blacking something out, or on a video editing/blurring something or deleting something?
Those cops must've really fucked up if the video is that bad.
This just proves we need smarter cops. Smarter cops wouldn't perform so poorly that they have to hide the video long enough to redact/edit it.
