My ancestor Elizabeth Tilley was a young girl, and orphaned that first bitter winter. The Carver family took her in.

She eventually married John Howland, who came as an indentured manservant to Carver. I doubt that Howland was a fanatic, either, although I don't really know.

There were fanatics, and then there were subservient folk.

from Native Americans on our society. And why is this? Because the early Europeans wanted Faith and Freedom. Their faith, and no other. And freedom to force anyone else to either adopt their faith or die.
