I am almost 4 weeks past my second Moderna shot and in ok health with a few exceptions (pre diabetic). In this red state no masks are required but I will still wear one. Social distancing is encouraged, the venue is outdoors with bring your own, lawn style seating. Probably a max of 100 spectators in an area large enough for me to distance myself. I will go alone and be careful (you can bring food and drink but they have several food trucks available). I really really want to go, it is a nationally known and semi retired bluegrass/variety performer and his band (Byron Berline Band), he just happens to live not too far away. The site is in a beautiful botanical garden setting. What say ye, safe to go?

(3,056 posts)I will always wear a mask in public. I skipped through COVID (knocking on wood), the flu and allergies with it. I miss live music. To be outside and hear the magic of live music is one of my pandemic fantasies. Im about 5 weeks of waiting till Im at your level.
Have a wonderful time!

(65,228 posts)...for vaccinated people, life is a series of risk assessments.
You've defined conditions of the event, and we know the breakthrough risk.
If you feel safe, then go.
If you continue to look for reasons to not go, you'll find them.
I substitute taught in the schools that were open through the whole pandemic. I went to a school, assessed their mitigations, and measured my risk. I found all of them on top of their game.
At some point, we have to be willing to assume some minor degree of risk, or we get paralyzed by concern.
Getting back to some low level of risk is the whole point getting the vax. We take a risk every time we get in a car.
Everybody can't stay home forever. We're social creatures.
All that to say, only you can decide what's right for you.
I decided to sub, but our neighbor chose to retire a couple years early and not return to the classroom.
Assumption of risk is a personal decision.

(2,957 posts)The whole point of getting vaccinated is to get life back to normal. Otherwise we might as well all hide at home for the rest of our lives.
