Morning southern california shooting spree that leaves 3 dead drops like a stone in the news

I guess life is cheap these days. This morning, we woke to helicopters and jammed freeways as LAPD completed a chase across two counties. within hours, it's difficult to even find details regarding the aftermath.

https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2021/04/27/alexis-carbajal-mingzhi-zhu-identified-2-men-killed-shooting-spree-downtown-la-fullerton/

Two people who were killed in a shooting spree stretching from downtown Los Angeles to Fullerton have been identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office.

Police believe the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee was the gunman in three separate drive-by shootings early Tuesday in Exposition Park and downtown Los Angeles.

One of those shootings hit 25-year-old Alexis Carbajal, who was sitting in his car in the drive-thru of a Starbucks. Carbajal was shot several times and declared dead at the scene. His wife was with him in the car, but she was not hurt.

Minutes later, 41-year-old Mingzhi Zhu of South Pasadena was shot while driving his Cadillac Escallade at Figueroa and 7th streets. He was driving for Uber and had been on his way to pick up a passenger.

“The senseless acts of violence that took the lives of two innocent people, including Mr. Mingzhi Zhu who was on his way to pick up a rider, is heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with those who lost their lives and their families,” Uber said in a statement.

"The suspect, who has not been identified, led police in a pursuit into Orange County, A spike strip eventually disabled the vehicle on the westbound side of the 91 Freeway. The suspect was ultimately killed in a shootout with police officers."

The poor wife of one of the victims was in the car when her husband was shot...awful.

are killed or wounded.

This doesn't rise to that level - which says something about the prevalence of violence in this country.

5 shootings, 2 deaths in L.A. tied to gunman later killed in Fullerton shootout, police say
By Faith E. Pinho, Kevin Rector
April 27, 2021 Updated 3:23 PM PT

The first shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. at Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard and was witnessed by California Highway Patrol officers, Moore said.

A man in a white Jeep pulled along another vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the driver, a Korean speaker, wounding him in the head, Moore said. He said the victim had a dashcam in his car that captured the Jeep’s license plate number, which helped police put out an alert.

About 10 minutes later, the same man arrived at a Starbucks near 28th Street and Figueroa, where a pair of newlyweds sat in line at the drive-through, police said. He backed into their car, then pulled up alongside them. After an exchange of words, Moore said, the gunman opened fire on the young couple, killing the 24-year-old husband, Alexis Carbajal, who was Latino.

About 15 minutes later, the gunman took aim at a second Asian driver. The victim, 42-year-old Mingzhi Zhu, from South Pasadena, was driving near 7th and Figueroa streets, Moore said, when he was shot and killed. His vehicle came to a stop a short distance away.
