good morning DU! Just a few near the 100 day mark feelings and observations

Without the orange clown running things, I wake up to see far less posts on DU - that's a good thing (I am surprised DU didn't break over the four years of insanity)

The insanity is not over, by a long shot, because the orange clown and decades of hate radio and TV have turned much of our country into a cult - part stupid, part willfully ignorant, all dangerous

The danger is not over. Joe and Kamala are off to a splendid - spectacular! - start, but the fact that the Big Lie still percolates and there have been no payments for propagating it means that we are still in deep shit.

I find myself waking thinking of gardening, plant sales, taking long walks in the mountains - not "did the orange asshole blow it all up last night"? What a relief. Though we are nowhere near normal (there is no normal any more - was there ever?), I'll take a return to a somewhat sane newscycle any day.

The media, to me, is still overmatched - it has no clue what to do without the orange asshole stirring the drink every second to create ratings. They've generally lost their way, with only a few exceptions. So -

Though we returned to watching a snippet of news just after the inauguration (a week or so, PBS newshour), the groundhog day feel of it and the typical parade of wing nut guests outnumbering sane leftied caused us to turn it off again. We are once more totally TV-less (we use it for streaming movies, or DVDs). We don't miss it.

DU is my main news source. Period. If it sends me elsewhere to read links, that is where I go.

We are both vaccinated, the plants are growing, people are showing up to buy our plants, I am about to plant my straw bales and grow bags, and we are about to head for the arboretum to (hopefully) view the native azaleas blooming.

Happy day, all, as best as we all can - but I've been really quiet here lately - the above explains why.

EDITED to add one more thing - we just rebinged "Homeland". It is absolutely amazing how correct they got things - the US reaction to terror attacks, corruption on the inside, the impact of troll farms and Rush-like characters. We raced through seasons 1-6. Though it can make you nervous watching Claire Danes as Carrie, the content makes it must see TV.
