Born To Run The Numbers provides perspective on the recent shootings of Black Americans by police officers:

Excerpts:
"It is incredibly ironic that our system of justice is designed so that it takes a two-week jury trial with a unanimous verdict to send a murderer in a police uniform to prison, but all it takes to end the life of an innocent Black man is one cop with one-tenth of a second to make an erroneous judgment."

(38,328 posts)The nation would be a better place if these cops were disarmed.
Some of them should be tested for illegal drug use as well, including steroids.
People subject to fits of 'roid rage and other anger management issues related to drugs shouldn't be armed. People with ordinary anger management issues shouldn't be armed.
If these disarmed cops can't handle it, fine, they can quit.
I always think twice before calling the cops. I've seen them shoot people I wouldn't have shot. I've also seen them using guns recklessly.
Armed cops don't make me feel any safer.

(90,829 posts)Forbid those off-site training classes about being a warrior and learning killology.
I have no problem at all with police and sheriffs being armed and trained appropriately.
BUT: If a person cannot tell the difference between being in the Army in a war zone in an occupied country and being a policeman or sheriff among the civilian population in the US, they have no business at all putting on the badge.
