4. When FB and its many sins/damage to society & democracy are brought up on DU

it incites one hell of a lot of outraged defenders--outraged that some would suggest deleting their accounts. Those threads usually end up quite "heated." And, this is on DU.

So, sadly, the convenience or habit seems to overrule all else for so many that I don't hold out great hopes that such backlash would occur.

Easy for me though. I never registered, having been alarmed very early on at how much data they were collecting and sharing.

6. I registered once under an altered spelling of my name in order to access another site that

pretty much required it to get in. I never posted anything on the page and after a couple of years they purged me and by then the site I had originally signed up in order to access had been changed and it wasn't necessary anyway. During that brief time I watched a few pages of people I know and some relatives and was amazed at the number of mind farts that suddenly appeared in print. IMO, it was a total waste of time.
