Now that the Honorable Merrick Garland is AG, the truth is coming out. Be patient. Look closely, the outlines are coming into focus. Justice is coming.
In the United States of America, we do not persecute our political enemies, but we DO prosecute criminals through a system of due process. It takes time, because it must be done prudently. Indicting a former President and his powerful cronies is not something that can be done rashly. It must be done justly, with full transparency. It looks to me like that's what's happening. Piece by piece.
Patience. Justice is coming.

(8,918 posts)My concern that the timeline will end up where releasing the Mueller report or going after Pendejo45 himself, will be right around campaign season for 2022 and Biden thinking that doing this could cause the (D)'s losing both the House & Senate, making a political strategy decision, he nix's it.

(9,942 posts)Barr didn't follow the rules. and the rules aren't really rules. most people in power just do whatever they feel like. Mueller could have at the very least made a stronger statement. He could have recommended indicting trump after he gets out of office. he didn't go nearly far enough with the Kilimnik thing. He didn't go deep enough on many things. i totally disagree that his failures were due to his hands being tied, or Barr did this or that. he failed at both getting the truth out and bringing people to justice.

I thonk you misinderstood my post. The point of it was that with new people in piwer, the truth will come out.

(8,918 posts)The government in DC in the past worked under norms, that are not written down, that everyone knew and excepted.
Pendejo45's administration violated a ton of norms because they where not written down.
For example, the Mueller Report was supposed to be sent to congress, as it has always happened in the past.
Yet it was not written anywhere that this was supposed to happen, so Dis-Barr just provided a 4 page highly biased summary.
I'm expecting that from this point forward, congress will write laws, putting these excepted norms as law, so that any future rogue administration can't pull this BS that the last administration implemented.
Mueller's report was profoundly disappointing. Now very wary of everything.

The Congressional JCOT hasn't moved an inch on his 75 million dollar tax refund. Cy Vance Jr. is retiring.
I know the wheels turn slow, but right now, it doesn't look like he'll be touched by the law at all before the 1st Tuesday in November 2024. Sure, the DOJ revelations will be damning, but his voters will never hear any of it.

I applaud all of them for standing strong. Trump has rarely been told "No" in his life, so it's about time he learn its true meaning and consequences. Same with Barr, McConnell, McCarthy, Cruz, Gaetz, Hawley and those other power-hungry idiots in his circle. Karma is a bitch and she's steppin' on your tails. Deal with it!

(1,530 posts)Mitch McConnell blocked Merrick Garland's nomination to SCOTUS.
And now Garland is US Attorney General:
-- SCOTUS can't issue search warrants; the US AG can;
-- SCOTUS can't release Trump-era DOJ memos; the US AG can;
-- SCOTUS can't authorize investigations into criminal activity; the US AG can;
-- and on and on and on.
Whatta you bet McConnell wishes he had let Garland on the Court?

(22,037 posts)AG Garland is exactly the right person for the job. And the president is keeping his own hands clean by not getting involved.
However, I think McConnell is such an ass that holding the SCOTUS seat open was still more important to him than letting Mr. Garland on the Court. After all, the criminality that Mr. Garland is investigating doesn't involve McConnell, only Trump and his cronies. I really don't think there's any love lost between Trump and McConnell. In fact, I bet McConnell secretly hopes Trump gets indicted and convicted because Trump has been a destructive influence on the Republican Party.
NNadir
(33,525 posts)...is "keeping his hands clean." Prior to the former guy the only case where a President really didn't do so was Nixon; and Mitchell went to prison.
Where clean hands were an issue, Trump was like a grease monkey without access to either a sink or soap.

(11,885 posts)I feel the same way, and think our real AG for the American people will serve US well. In time the criminals will have consequences that make others think twice before they try this again. If little consequences, we'll watch the criminals line up to run for office.

We STILL do not know what triggered a career employee to file a criminal complaint and what the crime they were alleging was(extortion perhaps?).

(2,977 posts)Biden and Garland know how serious this is and that it must be dealt with for the survival of Democracy and the Republic. We are seeing signs of this, they will not come out and say it directly for a number of reasons, but if you look, you can see the wheels moving.
History is not kind to failed coup plotters. Trump is lucky Biden and Garland and believe in the rule of law and will uphold it. Other places, other times, they wouldn't be so lucky to be treated so fairly and justly.

I very much like how Attorney General is handling this explosive case. It is professional, and respectful of the law, and good marketing as well, I think, letting it drip out slowly and carefully. This was precisely what brought Nixon down, the rule of law.
Some of the "I'll believe it when I see it" stuff is nonsensical. I agree with the OP.

From original post.."The truth is coming out" .."A Picture Is Beginning to Emerge"..
I watched the original movie "Star Wars" at least 6 times in the theaters..(got a copy in
my basement)....
Key idea:" I NEVER LEFT IN THE LAST 45 MINUTES, EVEN THOUGH I KNEW THE ENDING"
This current movie is led by "Joe Biden" who is a seasoned pilot who has been through a whole lot..
If Joe needs some advise, he can call on "Barack" who has seen the entire universe.. Many other
experienced pilots to help our hero Joe..I do believe that Joe will win the war, with lots of help from
many experienced pilots and lots of support from the entire universe..
Please, Please, Please....Stay for the entire movie...This one has a happy ending I believe.
