(57,102 posts)The only thing I REALLY, REALLY hated was the first iteration of Windows 10 with its screen filled with buy me's. But they fixed it.

(7,911 posts)I wish I could stick with Windows 7. Unfortunately some of the software I like to use have recent updates that no longer support Win/7. Too bad, so sad.

(14,118 posts)I prefer WIN 7 even if it's not as fast. And Microsoft keeps giving me updates every week
when I turn it on. And Firefox keeps giving me the latest updates on this WIN 7 unit, which they wouldn't do if Microsoft had stopped supporting WIN 7.
I'm not sure why Microsoft didn't withdraw support for WIN 7 early in 2020 like they said
they would but I'm not complaining.

(38,317 posts)My desktop computer runs Linux. I also have a Windows 10 laptop I once used for work but I haven't really touched it except to charge the battery and keep it updated since the beginning of the pandemic.
My favorite computer is a Raspberry Pi. One can buy a complete machine for about $100 and it's a nice way to learn Linux.
I'm prone to losing and breaking things, or leaving them out where they can be stolen. Babysitting expensive laptops is no fun for me, especially when I travel.
If someone gave me an Apple computer or phone I'd give it away like a hotcake to someone who'd appreciate it.
One of our children uses an expensive Apple laptop for work, and so does another child's spouse. Apple computers seem to be a necessity in certain professions, especially those involving the creative arts.
