Certainly you've heard you don't have the unimpeded right to yell fire in a crowded theater?
Well, same goes for torching our democracy by inciting violent insurrrctionists!

FB serves a very useful purpose for many of us in keeping track of family and friends. So, I'm keeping it.

(30,613 posts)Somebody with less of an evil mind could build a way for you to share your grandkid photos, without jeopardizing the nation.

(25,862 posts)Possibly because I don't remain friends with right wing jerks, and partly because I have extremely high privacy settings. I rarely post pictures of any kind. In the past several years it's been some pictures of snow in my back yard, or of my cat. No grandchildren.
I realize a lot of people just post everything: announcing when they are going away on vacation and posting tons of photos the whole time. Or the ubiquitous granchild photos. I often want to point out that most of us aren't that interested, but I don't because that would be unpardonably rude. In short, I use facebook. Facebook doesn't use me.

I see far fewer ads than most people because I don't own a TV. I watch plenty of TV over the internet, but no commercials. I'm convinced that watching regular commercial TV is a huge problem in that one, characters on a series are often shown living far better than someone with that job really could, and two, viewers are constantly exhorted to buy, buy, buy and their life will be vastly better if they only own whatever.

(6,205 posts)for things like brain tumors and Neurofibromatosis. Facebook has been a source of support for many because there we can finally find support that our families and friends cannot give or choose not to give. BTW- May is Brain Tumor and Neurofibromatosis month. If you don't know about Neurofibromatosis you just learned why FB is necessary for some of us.
When my son was diagnosed with the same brain tumor as Beau Biden it was FaceBook that brought the comfort and advice that I needed. He passed in March of 2020 two weeks before Covid shut down Arizona.
I won't even go into NF as people are still saying, "What that?" or when ignorant fools ask if we are contagious. At least at Facebook we have a place to go and vent, rant and get the group support that cannot be found elsewhere.

(34,195 posts)I use it to keep up on the activities of friends and family.
Also to read cartoon and humor sites.
Don't destroy something because some folks read the crap on it.
It's like saying "Destroy Facebook because I can't stop myself from reading the crap on it"
Folks need to regulate yourselves.
Don't like it?
Don't use it.

(25,862 posts)I have never bothered with Twitter or Tik Tok or any other of the many social media sites. I'm on FB and DU, with each fills a very different role in my life.
If you don't like FB for any reason, you don't have to be there.
