In a word or two, can someone please explain to me who this Josh Dugger is and why should we care?

Is he a Politician holding or running for office? If so, where and which party?

Is he an important Religious/Cult Leader/Figure?


Is he in charge of my healthcare, social security or anything related to government services and agencies, locally or nationally?

Is there some kind of connection to the Huckabee family? (I saw a reference which I inferred to be Huckabee)

Or is he an actor I've never of before? (which isn't unusual for me)

25. He's the oldest son of Jim-Bob Duggar who used to be an Arkansas politician.

Jim-Bob and his wife Michelle had a series of TV shows on TLC about their massive, fundamentalist, home-schooled "Quiver-full" family with 19 children and Josh was regularly on that show.

After he turned 18, he got married and immediately started churning out more kids. His dad's connections got him a plush lobbying job with the Family Research Council in DC but then evidence emerged that he'd molested five underaged girls including four of his sisters, the TV show was cancelled (although TLC still has a spin-off show focused on the sisters).

He's a good example of both fundamentalist right-wing hypocrisy and the swamp that keeps producing Evangelical lobbyists who are grossly unqualified to be involved in policy making.

The molestation charges happened when he was 14 or 15 I think and his dad was buddy-buddy with the local police and convinced the sisters to downplay it so it got mostly swept under the rug as childish curiosity at the time. He had to go away to some faith-based reprogramming summer camp and then everyone pretended everything was fine and dandy again.

It obvious that the sisters have wanted to speak out about it for years but have been discouraged from doing so because it would tarnish the brand and dry up the TLC cash cow even more.

While awaiting further adjudication procedure. Which was just shocking to me. Ordered to reside with a friend, not back to his family.

That's just the weirdest decision considering the charges, in my view.

Someone at work said that he was unfairly targeted, targeting Christians,blah blah. I said he was caught with DD. The person asked if I was sure and I said it's mentioned in the Reddit thread and the comment from the agent. His response?

(We work with adults with developmental disabilities and it's not uncommon to discover that some were victims of CSA.)
