Despite all of the public service announcements stating the benefits, despite all of the deaths, etc. they still don't believe. History will again prove that idiots have died in the past from poor advised steps to prevent sickness, and they'll prove it again. These idiots are doomed to repeat a sad history.

... at the sites that I look at, it looks like there are very few counties where the vaccination rate is less than 20%, and the lowest is at 9%.

Banks County, Georgia — COVID vaccine hesitancy continues to be a burning topic in America. CBS News has learned 25 states turned down some of the doses they were allocated because of falling demand. Georgia is one of those states.

At David and Katie's Amish Store in Homer, masks are recommended, not required. The ice cream is popular here — unlike the coronavirus vaccine.

"Your choice is your choice. And my choice is that I'm not gonna get it and I don't want it," said shopper Jason Fletcher.

Nearly 90% of voters in Rural Banks County voted for former President Trump. Its vaccination rate: 4%, among Georgia's lowest.

They're getting their data from the Georgia Department of Health:

https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/3d8eea39f5c1443db1743a4cb8948a9c/

Which has the vaccination rate in banks county at 19% with at least 1 dose and 16 percent fully vaccinated. Which is lower than it should be, but a lot higher than 4%

15 percent of county population receive COVID vaccination at local health department

Fifteen percent of Banks County residents have received the COVID-19 vaccination from the local health department.

A report from the Banks County Health Department shows that 2,769 residents have received two doses of the vaccination, while 3,528 residents have received one dose. Banks County residents could have received the vaccine at other locations, including pharmacies and the mass vaccination site in Habersham County.

... and people are very willing to uncritically believe what they hear when it agrees with their preconceived notions, even here.

I mean Georgia's numbers aren't great, but they're not as bad as a blanket 4% across rural counties would make them out to be.

11. MY thought too, Salviati. The article says 4%, BUT! Banks County

is next to ours and, yes, mostly pretty darned rural, mostly farms, but I-85 runs through its southern part and people around there are within commuting distance of metro Atlanta and Athens. And as pointed out, Democrats and also elderly at-risk conservatives should push that number up considerably.

16. What is the vaccination rate in rural black Georgia?
Wed May 5, 2021, 09:11 PM
May 2021

As other posters have pointed out the rate in Banks county is not 4%, it is about 19%. I looked up Lowndes county. Lowndes is part of the historical Black belt in GA. It is about 75% AA. Its vaccination rate is 21%, just barely above Banks. So it seems it is a rural issue as opposed to a racial issue.
