Sen. Ted Cruz trekked down to Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night to have dinner with Donald Trump.
How do I know? The Texas Republican senator tweeted an all-smiles picture of himself with the former President and this caption:
"Had a great dinner tonight with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago. He's in great spirits! We spent the evening talking about working together to re-take the House & Senate in 2022."

That Cruz feels the need to kiss the ring -- and make it VERY public that he is doing so -- after everything Trump has said about him (and his loved ones) speaks to the depths of capitulation (and obsequiousness) that even the ostensible future leaders of the party (like Cruz) are willing to stoop to in order to please the former president.

That's not the ring around Trump's finger either.

and re-installing the former guy.
That's it... Their Hail Mary. All to keep Mango Mussolini out of prison.
Sadly, my estimation is that they are 1/3 of the way there with the upcoming gerrymandering and institutionalized voter suppression measures which have passed in several States. The AZ muddle is a dry run.

(2,250 posts)Even if...IF...Biden was impeached and guilty by Senate, then Harris takes over. Unless they go after her too and then it becomes Speaker of the House?? And what? Speaker resigns and Trump installed? Under no possible legal scenario is this allowed. But then, what do I know? I didn't take Trump as a serious candidate in 2016 either.

They simply bully through relying on nothing, but, corruption, hubris, and the Big Lie.
Sadly, it seems to work in the former democracy.

(1,896 posts)Both Cruz, and later Romney, sitting there with canary eating cat-grins. They have their players and they will play their roles to keep getting what they want. Capitulating? If you say so.

(1,896 posts)It doesn't matter so much how Cruz or Romney sold out, or should I say bought in, to the deal. Trump basically convinced the two of them that by doing things Trump's way they, Cruz and Romney in this case, could carve out a huge market share. Combining the number of rwnj's now beholden to Cruz, and the dutiful followers of Romney, any political messaging allowed to reach those followers will have to make a Faustian, Trumpian, deal. Any democratic airtime reaching those demographics will be costly and ineffective. Of course Cruz and Romney are going to approach elections like pay-per-view wrestling.
