It's a far cry from the South Carolina senator's past assertion that Trump would be the end of the Republican Party.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Thursday night waded into the food fight between Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and her House Republican colleagues, saying he believes Cheney is wrong in her effort to push Donald Trump out of the Republican Party.
"Can we move forward without President Trump?" Graham said in an interview on Fox News. "The answer is no. I've always liked Liz Cheney, but she's made a determination that the Republican Party can't grow with President Trump. I've determined we can't grow without him."

(21,770 posts)He is a polarizing figure and most people have already made up their minds about him.
I think there is a core of citizens who will support him no matter what, but I believe there is a greater number who are repulsed by him and his politics and will absolutely have nothing to do with a party that he dominates.
You either love him or hate him. Fortunately, most of America hates him.

(4,845 posts)They want to keep those people with them and most of them are fine with voting for Trump. We got 7 millions more votes but we barely won a few swings states. They are betting that their voting restriction efforts and our side being complacent under Biden would give them the edge is 2024. Time will tell if they are right or wrong. But I think, at least for them, holding onto Trump is a good strategy because for some unknown reason (that I will never ever understand), republicans overall still love Trump.

(16,082 posts)I believe that the Russians, who are much better at political blackmail then the US could ever hope to be...have provided Trump with all the information he needs for almost every Republican in Congress!
Whether it involved taking money from known foreign entities or more personal secrets, Trump has access to all of it...what better way for Putin to ultimately destroy this country, then to threaten the Republicans with all the skeletons in their closets...

(6,829 posts)And so Graham is shading the real truth - that the Republicans can't afford to piss off #Traitor.
They mostly need to keep #Traitor happy or he's going to nuke them by forming his own party or by destroying each of them one by one
