Sounds like she's had her fill. Can't blame her for wanting other things in life after doing public service, surely very stressful.

"The last three years have not been at all what I would have scripted for our city," Bottoms said, citing a major cyberattack in her first months in office and a federal investigation into corruption under her predecessor "that seemed to literally suck the air out of city hall."

"There was last summer. There was a pandemic. There was a social justice movement. There was a madman in the White House," she said.

"It is abundantly clear to me today that it is time to pass the baton on to someone else," she said.

Still... something else is going on here.

Just don't know what it is, and I can speculate from here to kingdom come but that's all that would be. speculation.

There were a couple of interesting asides that tended to tease a little hint, something connected to a White House appointment or other Biden admin position. I will admit that's a huge stretch on my part to infer anything from that little aside regarding why she never accepted an invitation to the White House (Biden's WH)...

And then there was some thing regarding Walgreens. I don't know the back story on that.

I am suggesting something else going on, because her popularity, her dedication to community, the experience of being mayor during a madman's white house vs the wonderful contrast of being mayor during President Biden's admin. The relief of being able to call the White House when she felt her city needed more help. etc.

Just curious, I like her. We need people like her serving a city like Atlanta. I'm kind of bias about Atlanta, because I was born there, but chose to live in California 50 years ago, and I'm still here. Still Atlanta will always have a little place in my heart.

It's just hard to see a good leader leave their post, in a city vulnerable to Kemp's people.

and can't help wonder what is going on behind the scenes....

Am I remembering correctly that both she and her husband had COVID, and that her husband was in really bad shape? That could possibly explain what's going on. She or her husband may have lingering effects that they don't want to discuss.

Either that, or she's not seeking a second term to run for Governor.
